This is an entry in an ongoing series for 303 Magazine, which will provide a range of local album reviews. It is our intention to highlight the talents of local musicians, whether veterans to the industry or newcomers. Like the bands, the album can be fresh or something we just haven’t had the power to take off repeat in the past few months. Check out previous entries in the series here. Five years have passed since the left-of-center pop duo OptycNerd released an LP. This stretch comes to an end on Friday, August 30th with the release of Never Come Down, a 10-track album well worth the wait. Weaved into each song is the duo’s signature sound — a relaxed yet technically crisp fusion of indie and electro-pop that transmutes the feeling of sun-kissed summer days into music. This well-defined style has eased OptycNerd’s gradual transition from hip-hop and R&B to pop, a journey that finally culminates in this album. The sound mixing masterminds behind OptycNerd — Chris Kimmel and Chris Scott — self-produced the entirety of Never Come Down, which features twice as many songs as each of their past four EPs. Consider this an indication that they’ve come into their own. Although this album is their most mainstream project yet, it still incorporates some of the riskier cross-genre experimentation that typified the duo’s earliest work. Kimmel’s tightly structured tongue-in-cheek rap verses make a return in “Don’t Call”, “You Gotta Be” and “Untied”, while Scott’s laid-back, indie-inspired guitar riffs lightly decorate pulsing electronic progressions in almost every track. The duo, self-christened “the Chrises”, met each other at a college house party — an environment whose milieu is clearly a source of conceptual inspiration for their music. The album roughly chronicles the various stages of young romance and intersperses them with snapshots of euphoric teenage rebellion. Never Come Down’s extended metaphor, riding that high, allows for multiple interpretations: Tracks like “Do It Again” details overindulgence in addictive hobbies. Nevertheless, the album-wide conceit also carries an air of sentimentality and longing, ultimately revealing the human resistance to accept that all things must come to an end. Latent in this LP is the wish never to come down from life’s climactic moments (an appropriate theme for an album released shortly after the apex of summer). OptycNerd opens their record with several tracks that function as rejuvenating aural dance parties. “Do It Again” — released as a single in April — demonstrates the group’s study and eventual mastery of the electro-pop song structure: Here, a lyrically dense pre-chorus blooms into a modulating electronic refrain. The laid-back vocal style with which Kimmel sings economic, meticulously crafted rhymes like “My body’s aching and it needs to be awakened” epitomizes the group’s playful yet carefully calculated approach to music-making. Only dedicated professionals can afford the illusion of effortlessness. The album’s dark horse is “Lover”, an experimental track whose rock n’ roll-style hook features both the acoustic and electric guitar. Every section of this song is intriguing and unexpected. The bass line revs like a sleek automobile, while the atypical percussive melody carries the track through well-edited stylistic transitions. The track list’s power is rather top-heavy, but the penultimate song, “Flying”, lifts the energy back up to the OptycNerd’s preferred range. Released as a single in late July, the pop track contains enough space between the notes to send the listener free-falling through empty atmosphere. Luckily, the bouncy staccato phrases of the bass, guitar and drums are there to catch you before you ever touch ground. The result is a breezy feel-good ambiance to loosen up in. OptycNerd’s most ambitious release yet engenders a sunglass-wearing, driving-with-the-windows-rolled-down state of mind. Its crisp, easygoing sound encapsulates the aura of rapturous summer nights, and its thematic content wisely expresses both a yearning to relive them and a willingness to move on from them. OptycNerd will perform alongside recent tour partners Whiskey Autumn at the Serendipity Music & Arts Festival at Globe Hall on September 22nd. Keep up with them through their Facebook and Instagram pages. via https://303magazine.com/2019/08/local-listen-65/ “This is probably the fifth band I’ve been in since I was 17. I’ve never been in one before where the amount of friction is almost not there. The freedom we have to try new things and go down new paths — everyone’s into it,” explains Zack Smith, guitarist for Autonomix. In the mere year and a half since the aptly self-described “dancetronica” band’s inception, Autonomix has already performed at noteworthy festivals like Sonic Bloom and the ARISE Music Festival as well as STS9’s Wave Spell Festival in California. They’ve also opened for major touring acts like Particle and jammed with local heavyweights like SunSquabi, and won ARISE’s Rock the Fest Contest last summer. With the release of their debut LP — Counter-Balance -- this past summer, new music in the works and a performance with Papadosio on the horizon, the future looks bright for Autonomix. 303 Magazine sat down with the jam band to find out their secrets to success and why up-and-coming artists should say no to certain gigs. Anyone who has seen Autonomix perform has witnessed the sheer joy this band exudes. It’s infectious. Although their tracks are unmistakeably dance-y, there are no laptops involved in the making of this music — but that doesn’t make it any less fun to dance to. Following in the footsteps of jam band legends like STS9 and Lotus, Autonomix takes live instrumentation and improvisation to new heights, describing their music as “high energy psychedelic space-funk with tastes of drum ‘n’ bass and ethereal dancetronica.” “People come to our shows because they know we’re having fun and they connect with that and in turn they’re having fun.” – Josh NermonHailing from differing musical backgrounds — Nermon has roots in electronic music production and Smith originally began playing music in metal bands — allows each member to bring a unique set of skills into the mix. Bassist, Danny Littler, previously performed with Greener Grounds and Telemetry while drummer, Jeff Pfannenstiel, used to perform with Green Hit. Of all the projects they’ve been involved with, keyboardist Josh Nermon insists that “it’s never been this much fun, especially musically.” “We’re music fans first and musicians second,” explains Nermon, “we’ve all followed around our favorite bands for years.” Nermon played in a jam session with Smith, Littler and Pfannenstiel in March of 2018 following the departure of the pre-Autonomix group’s keyboardist. After about 15 minutes of playing, the group knew they had struck gold with their current lineup. With an ear for improvisational music, the members of Autonomix are intimately attuned to each other. “In this band, every one of us brings something to the table and we trust each other’s opinions about it,” says Smith. When it comes to bands that rely heavily on improvisation, trust and positive personal relationship are the cornerstones of a successful group. Even their name seems to be fitting with the vibe they’re trying to create. Autonomic processes are subconscious bodily functions that happen below the surface. Much like the subconscious processes of a heartbeat, Autonomix’s sound feeds into a “subconscious feedback loop to the vibe we are giving out and getting back from the crowd,” says Pfannenstiel. “When you see a band’s jamming become stale and looks like it’s not working, a lot of that is probably [due to] personal relationships…I can almost guarantee a lot of that is figuring out how to be friends and even remembering that you’re supposed to [be friends] before you’re bandmates.” – Zack SmithIn addition to liking your bandmates, what are their secrets to success, you ask? Nermon tell us that “a huge part of it [is that] we’re always conscious of momentum. If you aren’t taking those steps up, someone else is going to take your place. This momentum — it’s not really an accident. It’s the result of a lot of years of hard work from all of us.” Nermon also urges the importance of supporting other artists in the music scene, “if you are only doing things for your own benefit, people see through that.” Having a unified vision and open communication for the future direction of the project has been another factor contributing to Autonomix’s success. “This is the first band that any of us have been in where we’re all on the same page in terms of [how] we all want to see this work — we’re all in this for the long run,” says Nermon. Despite the idea that emerging artists need to accept every show that comes their way, Smith explains that they are thoughtful about the shows they play. “If we think a show isn’t going to fit our vibe then we’re not going to take it — we’re going to do the shows that create the environment that we’re trying to make and that [are] going to be helpful.” Autonomix recognizes that there are advantages as well as downsides to our local music scene. Pfannenstiel praises the Denver scene for its uniqueness, telling us that “you can take any day of the week for the most part and there’s something that you really wouldn’t see anywhere else in the country. There’s just so many amazing venues, so many amazing bands. Any Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday — there’s something amazing going on somewhere and that’s without exception.” Nermon calls for more collaboration as a way to enhance the local industry. “The more that we can collaborate between production companies, promotion companies and bands and not compete with one another, the more sustainable everything’s going to be in the long run,” Nermon explains. But there is one glaring issue that the band agrees is detrimental to the viability of our music scene. Smith tell us that “one problem in Denver’s scene is not so much the promoters as individual musicians devaluing themselves and being willing to [play shows for] below what they should be making for what they’re putting out there. When bands of your caliber are willing to do what you do for half the price, it starts to devalue what all of us are doing and that creates more competition.” While it’s common practice to play as many shows as possible for little to no pay with the goal of gaining exposure, often referred to as playing for consignment, Smith stresses that this is actually devaluing what musicians do. “If bands and promoters and venue owners would all put real value on what [we’re] putting out there, everyone could make it a lot further and actually have more time on their hands to create more music.” Many promoters expect artists to play for free. Smith tells us they turn down those gigs but there are always artists who will fill those slots thinking that if they play enough of them, they will eventually make it. While Autonomix isn’t necessarily focused on monetary gain, it’s the principle that keeps them from playing for free. “The sad thing is we put so much time and energy and our personal money into our equipment and it just devalues that. We don’t play [solely] for money but we still won’t play for free,” says Smith. Nermon adds, “one of the reasons we’ve been successful is because we’ve played less shows rather than more, you have to build up demand as an artist, whether it’s having an art gallery showing or planning a concert.” “I wish more people would take that stance and [not] take that free gig — wait for the next one where someone is going to value what you’re doing.” – Zack SmithAs for the future of the band, Autonomix has a busy fall ahead of them. “We’re going to write a lot of new music in the next month leading up to our show with Papadosio. We’ve been so focused on killing these festivals and making it the best performance possible and nailing down our songs and tightening up. But now there’s all this built up inspiration that we all just can’t wait to get out,” Nermon tells 303. Autonomix has their biggest show to date on October 18 at the Summit Music Hall where they’ll be providing direct support for Papadosio. Don’t miss it as it’s sure to be a night to remember. “That show’s going to be very different from anything we’ve ever done — it’s going to be something,” says Nermon. The texture was incredibly smooth and cream-like–denser, not powdery at all, but it wasn’t difficult to pick up with a brush–and blended out effortlessly on my skin. With climbing walls, slides and even a lazy river, the other recreation centers have a lot to brag about, so as Recreation Supervisor, Lawson has to improvise a little. Step into Lawson’s office and the little girl inside of you will squeal in excitement. There are mermaids by the masses. It’s not just a fantastical fascination anymore. It’s her job. Welcome to Mermaid 101, where you can be a mermaid for an afternoon. At the Northglenn pool of course. The idea for mermaid lessons came to Lawson after searching the Internet and learning there was such a thing. According to her, getting the recreation center to add certified mermaid swim lessons to their aquatics calendar wasn’t easy, but it’s been worth it. She’s made sure to make the experience as legit as possible with trained instructors who can properly teach the swimming techniques. At Northglenn, there are three mermaid courses offered. There’s Mermaid 101, a swim class that teaches basic mermaid swimming instruction. Participants in the class learn how to swim like a mermaid and wear a tail, the nylon skin that binds the legs, and a monofin, the bottom part of the tail. Then, there’s Mermaid Fitness, an aquatics class meant for strengthening the core while wearing only a monofin. Then, because she realized a lot of adults were signing up for the class and it was complicated teaching them alongside children (who were admittedly much better at mermaid lessons), Lawson created Mermaid 102, the adults-only version of the Mermaid 101 class. Click to view slideshow. No matter which class you decide on, Lawson wants people to know that swimming like a mermaid is a real sport. Most people don’t realize how much the tail weighs until they get in the water. “It’s actually deceiving. The monofin sits at the bottom of the tail and it’s very, very heavy,” she said. Before getting in the water, Lawson said she preps parents and adult participants about the required abilities needed to take mermaid lessons. “They have to be comfortable being in the deep end because once you get that skin on, your legs are bound,” she said. Lawsons recommends that participants be at Level 4 in the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program before taking mermaid lessons. The first Mermaid 101 class is mostly about safety. Instructors will teach people what to do in case of emergency (there’s a quick-release feature to drop your tail if you panic). “We don’t give them certificates if we feel like they could panic. Those first 45 minutes are just ‘Can you put your face in the water? Do you feel comfortable in the deep end? Can you start doing that dolphin kick? Can you use your arms to get yourself up to the top of the surface if that monofin is dragging you down?’ We want you to be comfortable in the water. ‘Do you, can you, and will you do these strokes? Do you feel comfortable with them?’” Lawson said. As for the Mermaid Fitness classes, Lawson laughs that she has seen many people come and go after the workout. “It’s hard. We’re scaring people away. They think it’s easy, but it’s not. They come once and they’re like, ‘I’m too sore afterward’ and we never see them again,” she said. At only $4.25 for almost an hour-long fitness class for non-residents of Northglenn, the lack of attendance is surprising to Lawson. She wants more people to come. “We’re doing different exercises to really work your tummy, your butt and your legs,” she said. As for Mermaid 101 and Mermaid 102, the sessions are a starting fee of $60 for residents of Northglenn and $67 for non-residents. This starting fee includes a tail customized to your color preference, height and waist size that Lawson will special order for you and four classes throughout the month. If you return with your tail in tow, classes are only $30 for residents of Northglenn and $37 for non-residents for an additional session of four classes a month. When it comes to the tails, Lawson gets excited. “They come in all these different colors! I buy the tails and everything through a company called Fin Fun. The tail of the month is called Moon Dive. I’m sure the instructors are going to call me up and say, ‘Deb we want Moon Dive!’” she said. Lawson says they keep the cost of the mermaid lessons down for participants because they provide the monofins. Purchasing a Mermaid 101 or 102 class requires you to buy a tail though for your first lesson — even if you happen to have one at home. “They have to come with the tails I’ve provided them. Not anything off Amazon. I don’t know what that tail is and I don’t know if the monofin will fit the skin. I have to be pretty stringent on that because I want everyone to be on the same starting line,” Lawson said. Despite the rules and safety precautions, Lawson insists it’s a blast. “We follow a very specific protocol with this but anybody can do it. You get my big butt in there and I’ve done it,” she said. The Northglenn Recreation Center is located at 11801 Community Center Dr., Northglenn, CO 80233. Mermaid 101 takes place every Saturday from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. (youth class) and Mermaid 102 takes place every Saturday from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m (adult class). Mermaid fitness takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15 to 6:55 p.m. Contact Deb Lawson for more information at [email protected] or call 303-450-8828. Register here. There are German bakeries, South American bakeries, Vegan bakeries, Gluten-free bakeries, international bakeries and many family-owned bakeries so it takes a lot for a bakery to stand out among the crowd. Newly-opened Bug & Belle Bakery brings nostalgia, warmth and delicious scratch-made pastries, cookies and other baked goods to the Highlands neighborhood. “I wanted it to feel like you were walking into your grandma’s house,” stated owner Erin Emerson. You get that feeling from the wallpaper, antique furniture, thrift-store coffee mugs, alphabet magnet menu and help-yourself coffee station as well as the friendly greeting from Emerson herself as you walk in. Emerson grew up baking but really dove into it after her children were born as a way to relieve stress. “At the end of the day I would never have dinner ready but there would always be a chocolate cake on the counter,” she joked. She is an acupuncturist by trade but always knew that she wanted to open up her own bakery and was finally able to do that this summer. She purchased a small house in her neighborhood on 32nd avenue, converted it into a bakery and named it after her two daughters – Mila, nicknamed Bug and Olive, who’s middle name is Belle. The space is small but it’s incredible how many delicious items come out of the compact kitchen. Emerson’s goal with the bakery is to be cozy, warm and not trendy and she bakes items that you would likely find in your grandmother’s kitchen. Cookies, savory rolls, cakes, gluten-free quiches, muffins, hand pies and Grandma’s monster cookies grace the case daily. In addition to these treats, special items like cinnamon rolls are only available on Saturdays and can sell out as early as 8 a.m. Bug & Belle even serves a special roast of Copper Door coffee that was created exclusively for the bakery and pairs well with all of the bakery’s items. The smell of pastries baking, warm coffee brewing and welcoming energy all create a “hygge” feeling – the Danish concept of “cozy contentment” – we all yearn for in our favorite hangouts. Click to view slideshow. In a city filled with specialty bakeries, Bug & Belle stands out as a reliable, cozy shop where you can enjoy a warm-hearted welcome. It truly feels like stepping into your grandma’s kitchen – which may even make the treats taste better. Bug & Belle Bakery is located at 3712 W 32nd Ave, Denver. This young artist believes that everyone must “explore the world, create new things, follow a passion and find yourself before time runs out.” Coward takes our most beloved staple pieces and turns them into elaborate works of art. This self-taught artist has found the beauty of merging his artistic talent, music and love of fashion through determination and a lot of customization. With an arm full of custom-made jackets and distressed fitted jeans, Coward set out with 303 Magazine through RiNo as he shared his work. 303 Magazine: So, Chance you just had a fashion show at D.Lite Denver. Tell us about the process of putting the show together and how you booked that show? Chance Coward: The process to book a show was difficult at first. I didn’t have much experience with putting together a fashion show. Myself and another individual that helped me were going around to the people that we knew to see if they would be interested in modeling in a fashion show. Once we had the models in place, we began to figure out days and times to rehearse the process. Soon, when the day came I made sure the models knew what they needed to do and prepared them. I had a vision of how wanted this whole show to look like so I tried everything in my power to get in similar to my vision. Luckily, the whole idea of the fashion show was supposed to look like we were on a street, so it was easier to think of props to put around the stage. The only way I was able to book the show was through this organization named D.Lite. They provide a space for local artists in the Denver metro area to perform and connect and I was lucky enough to use their venue to make this happen. 303: What inspires you behind your custom designs? CC: What inspires me behind my custom designs is my background as a child. When I was younger, fashion has always been around. Every piece of clothing had to match each other and look right. Just growing up in that era just made fashion so much important to me. The custom designs all come naturally for me. I just know what looks right and what doesn’t. What also inspires me is other people’s input and opinions. Whatever their vision is, I try my best to match that. The outcome when it’s finished is usually a positive reaction. I never limit myself to what I’m capable of doing. Even if they want something crazy that I’ve never done before I still push forward from all the doubt and negative talk and I make their needs, simple as that. 303: How long have you been painting and drawing? CC: I’ve been painting and drawing since I was about 11 or 12. YouTube helped me get where I am today, to be honest. I started to watch this graffiti artist on there for about three years. I would just watch him draw as I’m following on my paper. I would take notes on his techniques and just practice every day. Eventually, I could just look at a photo and draw it. Consistency and loving what I was doing is the only reason why I’m so good at what I do now.
CC: What interests me about fashion is that it can be whatever you want and you can do whatever you want with it and it’s who you are. Just the feeling and excitement of creating and finishing a jacket or some sort of custom clothing just brings me an accomplished feeling. Another interest that stands out to me is artists in this music industry. A$AP Rocky and Jaden Smith have always been role models that I look up to when it comes to fashion. Just the way both of them wear their clothes with different colors and textures tells me you can be yourself and people will follow. It’s not about wanting the fans to follow but being in such a position where everyone looks up to you in different ways, you can still tell the difference between the two of them. 303: Why do you feel that it’s important for young artists to showcase their talent? CC: A young artist needs to showcase their talent so they can get exposure from anywhere. I think it’s always the best to take every opportunity you get because you never know if that opportunity was the right one at the right time to build your platform faster. Young artists should always allow people to see their talent whether it’s good or bad. Everyone has a different perspective on what talent looks like. Also, I think it’s important to showcase your talent to other artists so that you can collaborate and learn new ideas. It’s never too late to learn something new. I also feel that it’s better to start when you have the talent at a young age because it helps establish who they are now and continue to grow as an artist later in life. 303: What are your goals with your art and further business plans? CC: My goals and further business plans with my art are to continue designing custom clothing and collaborating with other designers. I want to be able to travel the world and design celebrity jackets. It’s a dream to meet an artist that I look up to and to be able to design a custom piece for them to wear will be the best feeling. Knowing that art can bring all that just makes me work twice as hard. I also want to be able to own an art gallery or building for my brand. I want it to be everything I created and what I know from photography to pastel, paintings, sketching and custom clothing all around the premises. Art is a part of me so when people come in and walk around the place it’s a story of my life through my art that they would witness. 303: What are your dreams for the art community in Denver? CC: My dreams for the art community is that I want everyone — young people, etc. — to get involved with something they love doing. I think when you work towards something that’s not money but a passion it means more and you get some of a greater outcome. Living in a world with so many people who have a small mindset on things and never branch out to something that makes them happy is upsetting. There’s more to life than what you think and you’ll waste it and regret it later. I want them to experience something greater than what they think they can’t achieve. The mind is so powerful and you are the person that can change a pessimistic mindset. Explore the world, create new things, follow a passion and find yourself before time runs out. There are five shimmers and four mattes. The shimmers all have a more emollient, denser/thicker nature to them and most felt a bit more cream-like as a result. The mattes were the least consistent as the pigmentation ranged from semi-sheer to nearly opaque, though they were all buildable, and they varied in how readily they blended out. The mattes were improved when used over an eyeshadow primer, so the palette will work better for someone who typically uses a primer with their eye looks. ![]()

Most their eyeshadows are semi-opaque to opaque with a smooth, blendable textures that are easy to use and apply well to bare skin. The shimmers are slightly dense and creamier to the touch compared to the mattes, which aren't thin but don't have the same amount of slip. They tend to wear between eight and nine hours on me. ![]() RespectRespect is a medium-dark, warmer reddish-copper base with flecks of pink-to-blue shifting sparkle. The consistency was emollient, heavier and thicker to the touch, and it worked best with fingertip application. If you’re less inclined to use fingertips, a flat, synthetic brush would be your next best bet, which I preferred over a wet brush. It had good color coverage in one layer, which was buildable to full coverage. The eyeshadow applied evenly and blended out nicely without causing fallout. It lasted well for eight hours on me before creasing faintly. Top Dupes

![]() SnitchSnitch is a rich, burgundy red with subtle, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had barely-there micro-shimmer that seemed to help it blend out more readily but didn’t actually impact the finish, as it appeared quite matte in practice. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was buildable to full coverage. The texture was soft, lightly powdery but rather smooth, so I expected more blendability than I experienced but was workable. I’d recommend using a lighter hand and placing color initially with a smaller, more detailed brush and then using a clean brush to diffuse and blend out. This shade wore well for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed fading. Top Dupes

![]() RevengeRevenge is a light-medium copper with warmer, orange undertones and flecks of peach-to-pink shifting sparkle. It had nearly opaque color payoff that adhered well to bare skin, but it seemed slightly chunky and had a more loosely-pressed feel to it, so there was a bit of fallout if I wasn’t careful. On the flip side, as it wasn’t so thick and dense in the pan, it was easier to apply and blend out with all types of brushes/techniques compared to the other duochrome shades in the palette. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me fading visibly. Top Dupes

![]() DeceptionDeception is a muted, rosy mauve with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that was buildable, but the texture was slightly drier and thin, which I did find made an impact on application–it just was harder to really diffuse and blend out. It was easier to work with over an eyeshadow primer but still required some fussing. This shade lasted well for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading. Top Dupes

![]() AlibiAlibi is a deep, plummy purple with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a denser, slightly firmer consistency that felt more silicone-heavy. The color applied fairly well to bare skin, but I highly recommend using a flat, synthetic brush and pressing and gently pushing the color into place. At this point, it’s more of a modification of technique to use with the heavier, silicone-based formulas we’re seeing (which tend to have a nice depth and overall adhesion, so tradeoffs). It wore well for eight hours on me before fading slightly. Top Dupes

![]() TestifyTestify is a muted, medium-dark plum with warmer undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had semi-sheer to medium coverage in a single layer, which was buildable to more semi-opaque coverage with two to three layers. The texture seemed slightly stiffer, thin, and on the drier side, which all contributed to it being less workable. I’d definitely say that a primer was necessary for this shade, as it helped to mitigate some of the stiffness and improved blendability. The color lasted nicely for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading. Top Dupes

The texture was soft, a little powdery in the pan, but felt silky and smooth to the touch. It had semi-opaque pigmentation–though the formula markets itself as buildable–in a single layer, which could then be built up to full coverage. The powder applied fairly evenly and blended out without too much effort, but it could have been easier to work with overall. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before I noticed fading. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$7.00/0.21 oz. - $33.33 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to go on "smoothly" and have a "natural and healthy flush" that has "long wear" and "can be layered to your desired intensity." It is a lightly to moderately powdery powder blush with semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable color payoff. The consistency has a drier, thinner feel and though it feels silky to the touch, I found it the type of powder blush can be tricky to blend out evenly on the skin, depending on one's skin type or base preferences. The drier the skin/base, the better the formula would blend, but any natural oils or slip caused the blush to go on unevenly and was difficult to blend out. The wear was between seven and eight hours on me on average. Browse all of our Colour Pop Pressed Powder Blush swatches.
