![]() Call the ShotsColoured Raine Call the Shots Highlighter and Blush Duo ($25.00 for 0.32 oz.) is a new, limited edition duo that features a muted copper highlighter paired with a richer coral-red blush. Both shades had good pigmentation and sat well on my skin, while the textures were creamier but a bit thicker/denser, which made them a bit harder to pick up with some brushes. ![]()

![]() Call the Shots (Highlighter)Call the Shots (Highlighter) is a light-medium copper with moderate, warm undertones and a soft, frosted finish with peach-to-pink shifting micro-sparkle. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer with a moderately dense, slightly cream-like consistency. I preferred using a more rounded, denser brush to pick up product, which helped grab product more readily and distributed it more evenly onto my skin. It didn’t play well with more feathery or tapered highlighting brushes due to it being a little stiffer/firmer in the pan. The powder blended out nicely and seemed to “melt” a bit after a few minutes of wear. It lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed any fading. Top Dupes

![]() Call the Shots (Blush)Call the Shots (Blush) is a rich, coral-red with warm undertones and a fine, golden sheen. It had a denser, creamier consistency that took a heavier hand/denser brush to pick up evenly, though it was incredibly pigmented where a little went a very, very long way. It looked a bit pinker when applied and blended out and had a soft glow to its finish without appearing noticeably shimmery. The color blended out without too much effort, but between the denser consistency and actual pigmentation, it can be hard to correct once over-applied. It stayed on well for nine hours on me before fading visibly. Top Dupes

via https://www.temptalia.com/best-products-of-the-week-august-24th-through-august-30th/ ![]() BoukharaNARS Boukhara Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, light-medium pink with warmer undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly and just barely emphasized my lip lines (less noticeable in person). The consistency was thinner, firmer in the tube, and there was slight drag during the first application but the second application seemed to be more forgiving. The color stayed on well for four hours and was neither drying nor hydrating over time. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$26.00/0.12 oz. - $216.67 Per Ounce NARS has reformulated their core lipstick range, which now includes 72 shades across three finishes: matte, sheer, and satin. The formula is supposed to go on "smoothly and evenly with a light feel" that is "long-lasting" and "resistant to bleeding and feathering." The sheer finish has "subtle, sheer color that shines," while the satin finish has "creamy rich color" and the matte finish has "intense color with a velvety finish." The matte finish has a very thin, featherweight feel to it, but they didn't feel clingy or too prone to dragging during application, though they were definitely a firmer texture in the tube. There was enough glide from the inclusion of dimethicone (first ingredient for the matte finish) that went on evenly, felt velvety but didn't feel as powder-like as some of the other more silicone-heavy matte lipstick formulas that have been released in the last couple of years. Most shades were pigmented and nearly opaque to opaque. The wear ranged from three to six hours with deeper, richer shades staying on a bit longer and leaving slight stains. They were comfortable to wear but felt more non-drying than particularly hydrating. The satin finish has more slip, feels thicker (though not actually thick or heavy) compared to the matte finish, and of course, there was subtle to light shine/sheen. They applied smoothly, comfortably, and for the most part, went on evenly and didn't sink noticeably into my lip lines but there was some variance between shades. They were typically semi-opaque to opaque in coverage with four to six-hour wear that was lightly hydrating. The sheer finish had coverage that ranged from semi-sheer to true medium coverage but most had some translucency to them, which gave them a sheerer finish. I found most of the shades I tried were buildable to some degree. The texture was a bit firmer, but they felt more emollient and "melted" a bit more against my lips than I recall the original line of lipsticks doing. Some shades applied well with even application and were flattering on, but there were a few that sank more noticeably into my lip lines. This finish tended to wear between three and five hours. I don't have many of NARS' original lipsticks in my stash (I have mostly Audacious as they haven't been releasing many in the core range) to compare to. The matte finish was definitely thinner, more matte, and had a velvetier look on lips compared to the original which had a subtle sheen to it. The satin finish seemed a bit more pigmented and not quite as luminous/glossy as the previous formula, while the sheer finish was creamier, more emollient, and was easier to apply. It didn't feel like a vastly different formula, but it felt a bit easier to work with (smoother, more emollient but still lighterweight and thin, far less slip than any of the Audacious range) and was more comfortable to wear across the board for me. I didn't notice any scent or taste, though there is "fragrance (parfum)" listed in the ingredients--it smelled neutral, not waxy but I just didn't get any scent. ![]() Fast RideNARS Fast Ride Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark plum with warmer undertones and a glossy finish. It had semi-sheer color payoff in a single layer, which was buildable to medium coverage. The consistency was lightweight, emollient without being too slippery (I felt like it looked glossier than it felt!), and was comfortable to apply in a fluid motion. The color went on evenly for the most part, but it seemed to separate along my lip lines, which gave it less-than-flattering look overall. It wore nicely for four hours and was lightly hydrating over time. Top Dupes

OFRA’s Highlighters are quite large, so half of a pan is still quite a bit of product and plenty of room to maneuver a brush in to just pick up one color at a time. Together, they swirled to create a very bright and light beige with a hint of warmth. ![]()

via https://www.temptalia.com/how-many-beauty-products-are-within-your-reach-right-now-and-where-are-you/ After a decade and some change of new music, Tool is back with new material, a tour and critical acclaim. Earlier this year the band announced they would release a new album this summer after 13 years, and the album — titled Fear Inoculum — is paired with North American tour dates. The six-week tour going on this fall stops at the Pepsi Center on October 15 — not to mention, the official tour starts in our hometown, with the only prior performance being one at The Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California. Tool has a steadfast group of fans and they’ve catered to them throughout the years. Their “Tool army” — a term for their fans who belong to an annual membership offered on Tool’s website — will get access to tickets two days before the general public. For all of the rest of us tickets are on sale September 6 at 10 a.m. Check out Ticketmaster for information. via https://303magazine.com/2019/08/tool-pepsi-center/ More than one hour after GRiZ began his set, people were still waiting in a line that wrapped around the block of the Fillmore. The Denver-based DJ promised fans a one-of-a-kind chance to truly lose themselves in the music and live in the moment, and everyone couldn’t be more excited. The special DJ set would feature freestyling, GRiZ’s iconic saxophone, a special stage set up and most importantly, no cell phones or cameras would be allowed — and if that wasn’t enough of a selling point, the low ticket price certainly was. The announcement for the show generated a lot of excitement, and despite the long wait to get into the venue, GRiZ’s special DJ set did everything but disappoint. Following the surprise block party that shut down RiNo last month, GRiZ announced that he wanted to do something a little different for his fans. In a brief social media post, he promised everyone a unique chance to experience the music house party style. “I wanna do a show that’s on them house party vibes,” read the image posted to Facebook — and with that single post, the first of these special DJ sets was officially set to take place right here in Denver. With prices set for only $20, tickets sold fast. Everyone jumped at the opportunity to see one of Denver’s most beloved DJ’s in a more intimate setting before he kicks off his annual Red Rocks double-header. Unfortunately, in order to be part of the experience, fans found themselves stuck in a line that wrapped itself around the block, leaving concert-goers stranded outside the venue with more than an hour wait from the back of the line to the door. Fortunately, Denver concert-goers know how to make the best of any situation. Despite the seemingly endless wait, fans maintained a positive outlook, coordinating beer runs from the closest liquor store and passing out stickers to other attendees stuck in the traffic jam. The line may have been long, boring and at times downright painful, but the patient in the crowd managed to chalk it all up to being a part of the experience — with many fans remaining thankful that the unpredictable Colorado weather seemed to be on their side. While the line may have moved slowly as fans made their way through a security check and had their phones locked securely away for the evening, the show occurring inside was anything but slow. Upon entering the venue after surviving the line, the crowd was greeted by bass lines as house music washed over the attendees who had already made it inside. Unlike any other show at the Fillmore this year, GRiZ set up his stage in the middle of the venue — allowing him to play in the round, surrounded by fans and directly in the middle of the party. Though the line outside showed no signs of getting shorter, fans still managed to find space inside the sold-out venue — with some attendees making their way to the stage to stand on bleachers. The low stage put GRiZ almost at eye level with many of the audience in attendance, providing the house party vibe that the fans had been promised. As the bass shook the floor, lights danced and pulsed over fans in the audience who moved like an amorphous blob to the beat. With no phones to serve as distractions, attendees were able to live in the moment unconcerned about posting the perfect video to Instagram or even how late into the evening it was. As the night progressed on, GRiZ continued to excite the crowd with remixes of early 2000’s pop and hip-hop, and of course plenty of saxophone. At one point during the evening, GRiZ jumped onto the rail surrounding the DJ booth, giving everyone in attendance a clear view of him as he played his saxophone. From there, GRiZ — and everyone else in attendance — proceeded to get down. The air electrified with the energy of the crowd and the joyful exuberance of the DJ — making it the perfect kick-off for a weekend of GRiZ. Though the line to get inside the venue was long and made it difficult to stay excited about the show, GRiZ’s performance was well worth the wait. I very much wish that ColourPop, at a minimum, would discontinue placing their Pressed Glitters into what otherwise looks and feels like an eyeshadow palette. I think they do amazing shimmer eyeshadows, so they could have easily included something in that vein, but if they wanted some extra oomph, they could include their Super Shock Shadow formula instead (which we have seen in an open palette like this!). The eyeshadows were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing with little deviation but no real misses in the palette. ![]()

![]() Hungry GhostHungry Ghost is a pale, white gold with slight iridescence and a true glitter finish–a lot of small to mid-size hexagon-shaped glitter particles. It had a translucent base, so it would allow for skin or other products to come through it. It had a slightly emollient quality to it, which helped the glitter spread and disperse evenly across an area and helped to minimize fallout/migration. There was light fallout after eight hours of wear.

![]() Half BakedHalf Baked is a muted, medium copper with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had excellent color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin. The texture was soft, velvety, and blendable, which made it an easy shade to work with. It stayed on well for eight hours before showing signs of fading on my lid. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours. The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. It had rich pigmentation in a single stroke, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging during application. The texture was just emollient enough to glide on, while it felt lightweight, thin but not clingy, and was comfortable to wear. It stayed on well for six hours, left a faint stain behind, and felt non-drying while worn.
![]() Red LizardNARS Red Lizard Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark red with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in one pass, which applied evenly and didn’t sink into my lip lines. The lipstick had a firmer, slightly drier feel in the tube, which resulted in some noticeable drag when I tried to apply it in a fluid stroke, so I’d recommend using short, quick strokes for the best application. It was dry enough that it had actually come away from the interior holder and fell out (hence the smashed tip!) when I opened it upside down (noted: do not do that!). The color lasted well for six hours and was still going, and when I removed it, there was a reddish stain left behind. The formula felt a touch drying over time for me. Top Dupes
