![]() Clionadh (Light)Clionadh Clionadh (Light) Powder Highlighter ($12.50 for 0.21 oz.) is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a peachy shimmer that gave it a metallic finish. The pinker base wasn’t as warm-toned as the end result (which was quite influenced by the warmer shimmer). It had rich color coverage, though that seemed more than described, with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was easy to apply and blend out on my skin. It produced a nice glow that didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture. This shade lasted well for nine hours before fading visibly. Formula Overview$12.50/0.21 oz. - $59.52 Per Ounce There's not much that describes the formula other than it has a "soft, buildable application." They tended to be quite pigmented--semi-opaque to fully opaque--with soft, smoother textures that weren't too dense nor too softly-pressed into the pan. For sheerer or more buildable application, I'd highly recommend using a lighter hand a less-dense brush to do so. The texture was typically smooth, slightly dense and a bit thicker than most powder highlighters on the market, so they often needed to be really buffed and diffused on the skin. The finishes were often more intense, leaning toward metallic, and occasionally, they emphasized my skin's natural texture when worn at higher coverage levels. They wore between eight and nine hours on me for the most part. Browse all of our Clionadh Powder Highlighter swatches. ![]() RemedyLethal Cosmetics Remedy Pressed Powder Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a vivid, cyan blue with moderate, cool undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was more velvety and substantial, not thick but definitely a richer matte formula than is typically seen. It had full color payoff in a single layer, which wasn’t prone to sheering out nor was fallout a concern. It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably. FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent). Top Dupes
Formula Overview$6.00/0.06 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to have "extreme pigmentation" and "effortless blendability" ... "that [will] last all day." There are two primary finishes: mattes and metallics, and the latter can also be used wet. The matte finish has semi-opaque to opaque color coverage with moderate powderiness; it's a formula that is best used with a lighter hand. There was light fallout with some shades, though not at all, and they were blendable for the most part. Even with a light hand, there was still a bit of powderiness present--the brand did warn about using less with their formula--in the pan. There were a few darker shades that had a tendency to sheer out when applied or did not apply as evenly, especially when layered over a lighter shade but most of the mid-tone and lighter shades were easy to apply and blend out. As a result, I found myself having better results by going dark to light rather than light to dark (which is more in line with how I typically work). The metallic finish ranged from creamier, denser, and a bit thicker to softer, dense but still a little powdery (usually the lighter, more white-based shades). They were mostly opaque to fully opaque in a single layer, so they didn't need to be applied with a wet brush to achieve coverage or adhesion. I found that some of the more powdery, shimmery shades were more flattering on the lid when used with a fingertip or a dampened brush, though. The matte eyeshadows tended to wear around eight hours on me before fading, while the shimmer shades lasted eight to eight and a half hours on me. Formula Overview$24.00/0.12 oz. - $200.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to have an "ultra-creamy" texture with "eight-hour wear" and "pure color in one swipe." They're real bold with the "eight-hour wear" claim when it is a softer, creamier formula that's very comfortable to apply and to wear... and definitely not the longest-wearing formula I've come across--which is likely not a deal-breaker for those who aren't looking for long-wear. The wear averaged between four and six hours with some of the deeper, richer shades (like a red or berry) lasting six hours or longer. They wore down evenly and were lightly to moderately hydrating while worn. The pigmentation was nearly opaque to opaque for most shades, and the majority of shades applied evenly and sat well on my lips without emphasizing my natural lip texture or settling into my lip lines. They're real bold with the "eight-hour wear" claim when it is a softer, creamier formula that's very comfortable to apply and to wear... and definitely not the longest-wearing formula I've come across--which is likely not a deal-breaker for those who aren't looking for long-wear. They had a sweet, vanilla scent but no discernible taste. Browse all of our Becca Ultimate Lipstick Love swatches. The collection includes three eyeshadow palettes (and each has 12 shades): Quintessence, On the Horizon, and Radiant Reflection. You might be thinking, “Wow, three!” and you’d be right, but frankly, I couldn’t pick just one color story. I wanted to do something interesting but cohesive, and there were three concepts I had in mind, so when I pitched them… I pitched all three. To my surprise and utter delight, Sydney Grace was all in! We even went from 10 shades in each palette to 12 shades to further enhance each palette’s color story. It didn’t help that Sydney Grace sent over so many stunning shades in the first round of color samples that it made it so hard to narrow down selections, so it became a game of addition rather than subtraction! Quintessence is an ode to space and the night sky. On the Horizon is my take on neutrals–a little grungy and earthy with some desert inspiration found along the way. Radiant Reflection is a celebration of color that takes its cues from jewels, rainbows (but intensify the depth and brilliance), and metals. Here’s a lil’ peek at the first round of color samples Sydney Grace created, which start their lives as loose powders! These were some of the very first swatches I did in the process, and you’ll have to wait and see which ones were tweaked, eliminated, and finalized. ? I thought it was the perfect time to share and announce the collaboration and that I’m working more closely with Sydney Grace through this collaboration, as we’ve reached the point in the process where about half of the colors are finalized–there are 36! shades in total–with most of the remaining shades quite close and only a few that are still in progress. Some of those fully-approved shades are moving into production very soon. The names and placements of the shades have also been finalized and are getting ready to be printed on packaging, so everything is moving full-steam ahead! I’ll be sharing my dissertation on the whole process, along with more details than you’d ever want to know about each palette, its final color story, and the journey to get to the finish line as we get closer to the release date. For now, though, here’s a look at one shade, which is finalized, and it is a callback to the first collaboration I ever did, which was with MAC. I created an emerald green eyeshadow called “Jealousy Wakes” back in 2011, and this is its successor: Jealousy’s Descent. It’s a rich, emerald green with an intense, metallic shine. Fun fact: Sydney Grace nailed this shade the very first time. Thank you so much for being part of this journey (and being a large part of why I’m even here!)! I hope that the palettes live up to high expectations I know are set for me ? Stay tuned! via https://www.temptalia.com/sydney-grace-x-temptalia-collection-coming-soon/ A recent study by KOALA reveals six Colorado ski resorts ranked within the top 10 for skiing in the United States. KOALA – an Airbnb-style platform for renting timeshares – analyzed over 450 U.S. ski resorts based on their annual snowfall, length of runs, cost of an adult ski pass and review ratings. Read on to see why skiing in the Rockies ranks the best. In The American Ski Index – Vail, Colorado ranked number two in the country. Known for the Blue Sky Basin – the luxury resort received an overall score of 67.98 out of 100. With 25 ski lifts, 767,716 feet of runs and an average snowfall of 591 cm – it’s no wonder Vail is also the priciest resort on the list. One adult day pass is $219 – a price millions are willing to pay. Vail Daily reports, “According to the National Ski Areas Association, no region in the U.S. saw more ski visits this winter than the Rocky Mountains, which broke all previous records by surpassing 24 million visits in 2018-19.” Third on the list with more hashtags on Instagram than any other resort in Colorado – ranks Winter Park. With breathtaking views of the Continental Divide – this resort claims to be Colorado’s best-kept secret. We’ll let you be the judge of that. Also a part of Vail Resorts, the most affordable ski resort on the list is Keystone. Offering $179 for an adult day pass – Keystone provides spectacular slopes with a summit over 12,000 feet. In order to ensure visitors’ safety this season – Keystone is committing to social distancing, mask requirements and cashless transactions. Breckenridge, Snowmass and Telluride are also among Colorado’s famous resorts. Home to evergreens and alpine chutes – Breckenridge ranks fourth overall. The ski town claims to have a vibe known as The Breck Effect. “It’s a catch-me-if-you-can, go-big-or-go-huge kind of vibe. It’s a send-it-til-your-thighs-cry, last-down-gets-first-round kind of vibe.” Or in other words – live bigger – they say. Lastly, Aspen’s Snowmass ranks seven and Telluride eighth. From Kendall Jenner to Oprah, both prestigious resorts are wildly popular among celebrities. Adventure is calling – and there’s no place better to escape than one of Colorado’s top-rated ski towns.“It is no surprise that six out of the top 10 ski resorts are located in Colorado, one of America’s most famous states for skiing and snowboarding,” said cofounder and CEO of Koala – Mike Kennedy.

It was intensely pigmented where a little went a long way, which is fantastic for those who prefer higher coverage, but it wasn’t as buildable as described by the brand. It had a smooth, lightly creamy consistency that wasn’t too firmly-pressed into the pan nor too thick, so it picked up readily with a blush or highlighter brush. The product applied evenly to bare skin, diffused well, and didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before fading visibly. Replacing the space formerly occupied by Happy Leaf Kombucha, Frank’s serves a range of pantry items, fresh produce, locally-produced wares, cheese, meats and hot and cold meals ready to eat either at home or onsite. By all outward appearances, Frank’s could easily be mistaken for a community grocery or food cooperative — blending an unmistakable Colorado nonchalance with inspiration from Mexican and New York bodegas. But the market is actually an extension of Blue Note Event Services, the exclusive caterer for essentially all of Denver’s most iconic venues several decades running. The project — particularly the many house-made items that fill the deli counter — is finally bringing to the public the food that has long fueled the local music industry. “It’s basically what we do for bands but for the community — cozy, convenient access to feel-good food,” said business development manager Katie Scotten. Click to view slideshow.Blue Note was founded over two decades ago by Irene Taras, an industry vet whose catering background dates back to the ’80s, where she once, at the request of The Grateful Dead, made granola for the entire Red Rocks audience from a batch of oats the band sent over. Blue Note has since grown to be the go-to company for both AEG and Live Nation, servicing bands, crews and production teams at all the major venues across the Denver area. Anyone dining backstage at Red Rocks, the 1STBANK Center, the Pepsi Center, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Mission Ballroom and Fiddler’s Green during the last decade has surely feasted on one of Taras’ banquets. The crack team has also been known to assemble fully-functioning temporary kitchens outside of Mile High Stadium and handled all the catering at Grandoozy and a range of annual one-offs. “What we do is music. That’s what we all live and die by,” said Scotten. While Frank’s was certainly developed as a pivot for a company that usually spends its summers frantically granting the requests of nearly every major touring artist that touches down, Blue Note — with its adjoining offices — had been planning on converting the former kombucha house into a concept that at last served members of the audience. “We were interested in doing something with the space when we bought the building,” said Scotten. “We always knew it would be food-related,” she continued. Initially, the team considered forming a restaurant, though 2020’s uncompromising dictates compelled the group to alter its course. “A store would be a better way to offer what we do and a better way to serve the neighborhood,” said Scotten. Most of the employees have long been with the company, with Taras’ son Blake Elwell and his wife Jennifer managing onsite. Click to view slideshow.Frank’s is curated with a blend of thoughtfully-sourced local goods and an equally top-tier selection of the essentials brought in from far and wide. River Bear Meats and Tenderbelly are on display and not far off are jars of Tajin and cookies from Tate’s Bake Shop. Nick, Nora and Emily’s Toffee Corn — made in Nederland — shares the shelf with pie crusts from Kinnikinnick and Bob’s Red Mill. The integration between the local items and more recognizable brands is underscored by a general commitment to quality — upscale but free of pretense. “Local people get shelf priority around here,” grinned Blake. Even so, the reason to visit Frank’s is the house-made dishes. While the menu changes regularly, there is a list of “Everything All the Time” selections that will always be available. The bacon-wrapped meatloaf ($3.95 a slice or $11.95 for dinner) is a good move there. On Wednesday, the team recreates menus requested by artists — with Phish, Ariana Grande, Big Gigantic and Adele having already been on display. The soups — including chicken noodle and cream of asparagus — are particularly liable to induce misty-eyed returns to whatever remembered kitchen love lives in. “All the recipes have rotated through our menu offerings a lot of times over the years. That’s a big part of our confidence, this food is not new. Thousands of people have eaten these dishes,” said Scotten. It’s unsurprising — especially considering the insular world Blue Note has built behind the scenes — that Frank’s cuisine has all the reassuring familiarity of a friend who just recently reemerged from the woodwork. The posters that line the walls — Mac Miller, Rebelution, a signed photo of The Police — lend a warm reminder of a temporarily bygone era. And fortunately, even when concerts do return, the team says Frank’s is here to stay. “We just found a new group of people to feed,” smiled Scotten. Frank’s Food and Bodega is located at 5700 West 25th Ave., Edgewater. It is open every day from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. A special Thanksgiving menu is available here. The texture was lightly powdery, though very smooth and finely-milled with enough glide that it applied evenly to bare skin and wasn’t prone to sheering out. Quick Shop: Lethal Cosmetics![]() AscensionLethal Cosmetics Ascension Pressed Powder Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a bright, medium blue with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely along the edges. The texture was moderately dense, lightly creamy but not stiff or too firmly-pressed into the pan. This shade wore well for eight and a half hours on me. Formula Overview$6.00/0.06 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to have "extreme pigmentation" and "effortless blendability" ... "that [will] last all day." It did not feel like the brand’s typical formula as a lot of the shimmer shades felt more emollient, but somehow managed to be drier with loose sparkle/shimmer that came away. The shimmers did come off as particularly shiny so long as they were applied with a fingertip or dampened sponge, so I could see someone with that application as their go-to not having as much difficulty with the palette overall.

![]() Shook My Snow GlobeShook My Snow Globe is a lighter, yellowy-peach with strong, warm undertones and flecks of pink and gold sparkle. It had sheer color payoff with a drier, more loosely-pressed consistency that had a ton of fallout. It wasn’t worth using dry; it was more medium, buildable coverage when applied with a fingertip or a dampened brush, but I would recommend using an adhesive base or spray to improve coverage, for evenness of application, and to reduce fallout. This shade wore for seven hours but had fallout over time. FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent). Top Dupes
Formula Overview$17.00/0.05 oz. - $340.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to be a "highly pigmented powder" that goes on "evenly and blends well." MAC eyeshadows run the gamut from total failures to long-time, cult-favorite staples. In general, the permanent line has been more consistent in performance--and higher performance at that--compared to limited edition launches, but it can really depend. The Matte finish tends to have a firmer press and a bit of thinness compared to other matte formulas on the market, so MAC matte eyeshadows tend to build up better and have better wear-time without fallout as they're not powdery at all. Some of the newer matte finish shades have had a more velvety quality to them that gives them a softer feel but aren't powdery; these have been easier to blend and are often more pigmented in one layer. The Lustre finish is designed to have sheerer pigmentation, and it often has more sheer to medium coverage with a drier, dustier consistency that can be hard to apply with a dry brush. Lustre finish shades can suffer from fallout during application, too. They are the old school version of an eyeshadow "topper." I would recommend applying with a fingertip or applying with a dampened brush to get smoother, more even coverage and minimize fallout. The Satin finish is few and far in-between, but it is softer and more yielding than the Matte finish but performs similarly. They tend to have very low sheen but are quite blendable with medium to opaque coverage. It can be easy to mix the finish up with the Velvet finish, which has more of a sparkle-over-matte effect but are more powdery than the true Matte finish. The Frost finish is more firmly-pressed into the pan but doesn't have fallout, is often pigmented, and blends out well enough. They can sometimes be a little drier to the touch depending on how much shimmer is in the shade. The Veluxe Pearl finish is one of the creamier takes within the range, and newer shades released in the finish tend to have more moderate, silicone-like slip. I've found that Veluxe Pearl finish shades tend to have more semi-opaque pigmentation and are more consistent in performance than some of the other finishes. One thing I've found with MAC eyeshadows is that they tend to last longer without primer than the average brand (eight hours). While some eyeshadow shades don't swatch well, they often apply better in practice--as in on the eyes!--than just swatched on the skin. They can be quite hit or miss, and they have inconsistencies between releases (see Carbon and its sordid review history!). Browse all of our MAC Eyeshadow swatches. ![]() Plum DarlingPlum Darling is a medium plum with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable color payoff that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out well. The texture felt lightly creamy and more emollient but was too thick. It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably. ![]() Frost SmittenFrost Smitten is a medium-dark purple with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation paired with a slightly powdery, though emollient, texture. It was strange to feel it, as it felt smoother and had glide, but when I put a brush to it, there was powderiness. When I applied the product to bare skin, it applied more evenly than anticipated, though there was moderate fallout. It lasted nicely for seven and a half hours before fading visibly. ![]() Catch My SnowdriftCatch My Snowdrift is a medium, charcoal gray base with cooler, bluish undertones and brighter, silver pearl. It had sheer color coverage, which only applied decently with a dampened brush (yielded more medium, buildable coverage) as the texture was more loosely-pressed and very prone to sheering out. There was a moderate amount of fallout when I sued with a dry brush, though it–surprisingly–stayed on for six hours before fading. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that was difficult to build up without jabbing at the surface of the pan as it was very stiff and firmly-pressed into the pan. ![]() CarbonCarbon is a medium-dark black with neutral undertones and a matte finish. Oh, poor ol’ Carbon, one of the least reliable eyeshadows ever to be released over time. It’s not the worst, particularly if you prefer more buildable coverage, but it was by no means the best iteration (as in, most blendable and easiest to use) either. The texture was smoother to the touch but firm, slightly dry, while it had medium coverage that was buildable. It lasted for eight hours before fading visibly.
