A playfully illuminated maze with contemporary art displays, satisfying small bites and of course — wine — took over CTRL Collective above Denver’s Milk Market on Saturday, April 27. Vinochromatic, an explorative yet approachable wine festival by experiential events agency, Two Parts, proved you don’t need to be well-versed in varietals to celebrate vino in style. The seductive setup offered a variety of vendors hidden throughout the dimly lit halls with colorful neon-accents where attendees could enjoy unlimited pours of red, white and many new world wines. Guests could opt for an educational experience or simply take advantage of the fun opportunity to mingle and indulge for a ticket cost of $75. “Wine tasting doesn’t have to be a high-brow activity for experts to sip and flaunt their wisdom, pinkies up. Vinochromatic appeals to the casual wine drinker looking to learn a little more and have a good time doing it, ” said Two Parts Founder, Casey Berry. Click to view slideshow.Divided into two sessions — the first from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the second from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. — there was a slight variance in the range of palate-pleasing small bites to be enjoyed in between sips. During the evening session, lighter bites included chilled pea soup with rhubarb sorbet from The Way Back, duck confit with fava bean relish and black radish in Belgian endive from The Kitchen Bistros and a refreshing ceviche composed of scallops, albacore, mango and avocado by Kachina. Additionally, Cirque Kitchen and Eclat Culinary showcased a flavorful mouthful of red wine strained risotto with garlic herb shrimp, smoked preserved cherry tomatoes and ramp pesto, while baked bites from Leven Deli and dressed-up deviled eggs by Bar Helix kept roaming wine drinkers satiated throughout the evening. For those seeking desserts aside from sweet wine offerings, The Dapper Doughnut provided an assortment of fresh made mini “cake style” doughnuts and Bistro Georgette served up a crowd-pleasing brown butter honey tart with apple compote, oat streusel and mint. Notable wineries included Blanchard Family Wines — the artisan, family-owned Sonoma favorite which opened its first outpost outside of California in Dairy Block this past winter — along with the effortlessly cool, RiNo-based urban winery, Infinite Monkey Theorem and Colorado craft winery, Kingman Estate — bringing class to boxed wine culture. Berkley’s Broc Cellars delighted drinkers with an exceptional, straightforward red and rosé and Union Wine Company was one of several wineries representing Oregon with its approachable yet thoroughly pleasurable selection. Bold reds and bubbles were enjoyed from Rioja’s Campo Viejo and Copper Cane‘s luxurious collection of brands drew crowds throughout the night.

With wine being poured in every direction from brilliantly displayed bottles, cans and unpretentious yet surprisingly sophisticated boxes — guests were also given the opportunity to escape the grape with alternate beverage options such as Stranahan’s single malt whiskey, GT’s Kombucha, QC Cider, Dram’s infused sparkling waters (some with CBD) and Lifted Libations’ flavored vodka sodas, among others. Art pieces could be admired and purchased throughout the venue while winemakers eagerly engaged with everyone from advanced sommeliers to individuals whose wine vocabularies only extend to “red” or “white.” Ultimately, Vincochromatic exceeded in its mission to separate the intimidation factor from wine-focused events and create a comfortable, consumer-friendly atmosphere to be enjoyed by a full-spectrum of enthusiasts. via https://303magazine.com/2019/04/vinochromatic-wine-festival-denver/

![]() Strawberry FrozeBite Beauty Strawberry Froze Outburst Longwear Lip Stain ($24.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which adhered evenly and smoothly on my lips. The consistency felt firmer, almost like a more solid lip balm, but it glided across my lips with firmer pressure but no dragging or tugging, so it was still easy enough to maneuver it along the edges of my lips. This particular shade is very close to the actual stain that gets left behind after the shine and product wears away. The more “lipstick” like part of the formula still had great wear at five and a half hours, while the stain itself was still noticeably intact into the next day, though it wasn’t strictly wearable. It was a color that could definitely be worn all day long, but it had faded enough and less evenly (especially along the inner area of my lips) by my second meal of the day, which is stellar wear. I’d just recommend being prepared to use something like a microfiber cloth and some makeup remover to soften and remove most of the remaining stain so that lips don’t look blotchy. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$24.00/0.07 oz. - $342.86 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to be a "high-impact, low-maintenance lip stain" with "vibrant, bold color" and a "satin-matte finish." In the initial launch at least, there are only three shades available, and while they were noticeably different initially, they all tended to have more of a fuchsia-like stain left behind that looked more similar than not. Each shade was intensely pigmented with full coverage in a single layer. The consistency was firmer, thinner, and felt almost gel-like as they applied to my lips, and they didn't drag but did need firmer pressure compared to their other lip products (not in a painful or uncomfortable way). The product was quick to stain, and the stain itself was intense and richer with more coverage--by no means a faint stain or anything resembling a light stain leftover from a more pigmented red lipstick or the like. The stain lingered and lingered into the next morning, which I had to remove by using a microfiber cloth and remover to get most of the product off. This product, in general, will work better for someone who is less concerned about wearing drastically different colors from day to day as a result of how long-wearing the stain portion was. The issue I had was that after a second meal, the stain was noticeably uneven and not something I'd want to keep wearing. The lip colors seemed to last five to six hours, while the stain certainly went on and on and was "decent" in how it appeared for another five to seven hours (depending on what one ate/drank and how often). I'd recommend reapplication at that point or tapping some more on the center of lips and blending outward if good wear is necessary for more than that length of time. They were comfortable to wear, lightly hydrating in the way that it seemed to help my lips retain their moisture over time without adding enough hydration that my lips felt better after 12+ hours of wearing a shade. They had a faint, sweet, lemony scent but no discernible taste. Also, the product is not transfer-proof, but the stain itself is transfer-resistant (some will come away on a napkin). While it seemed that the genre was destined to fade away, the new wave of bands joining the style are combining the classic elements present in post-hardcore with the lyrical themes we never truly outgrew from our emo phase. While it may not be the old sound we all loved, it seems as though the new direction is exactly what fans have been looking for. Perhaps this new direction is the reason that so many post-hardcore shows make you want to crowd surf the night away while simultaneously crying with your friends. If you’ve never experienced that feeling, then you clearly missed out on the chance to see Movements at the Bluebird Theater on Friday night. Movements is at the forefront of the new wave of post-hardcore. They’ve been pioneering the dreamier new sound – which admittedly doesn’t always sound as hardcore as you’d expect. Their unique sound combines the melodic sounds popularized by Citizen with the harsher, screamo spoken-word lyrics given to the genre by La Dispute. It’s a sound that fans can’t get enough of. In fact, legend has it that Movements signed to major genre label Fearless Records after just one show – and after their performance at the Bluebird, it’s clear why. Perhaps one of the biggest benefits of being a fan of this genre is that every show is a chance to see a variety of bands you love. Unlike many pop artists who tour with lesser-known artists, fans of post-hardcore and pop punk are often fans of all the bands within the space and typically know every artist on the bill – and this show was no different. Movements brought a stacked line-up to the Bluebird Friday night, and fans showed up in force to support some of the bands who are taking over the scene. When Drug Church took the stage promptly at 7 p.m. fans were still waiting in line at the box office to get their tickets. By the time Trash Boat took their place on stage, the venue was at capacity and a few crowd surfers had already started surfing their way to the front. However, the audience wasn’t truly ready to rock until Boston Manor. The English band has been a staple within the scene for a few years now and has a devoted following. The band was quickly drowned out by the voices of the crowd, who knew every word to nearly every song, and the band took notice. “This is always one of my favorite shows of any U.S. tour we do,” said vocalist Henry Cox. “You guys go fuckin’ hard.” When Movements made their way to the stage, one thing was immediately clear – the band cares about their fans. “I’ve seen a lot of people get dropped,” said vocalist Patrick Miranda, likely as a response to the crowd surfers who sustained injuries as a result of crowd surfing – including one fan who was carried out by security after being dropped. After expressing concern for the safety of their fans, the band launched into their set. After a few songs, the band made a promise to the audience that fans can be excited about. “When this tour is over we’re going to write and record, a new record,” said Miranda, ” right now it’s just old stuff.” Movements’ discography may be small, but that allowed fans to hear nearly every song the band has released. They played every track from their 2017 album Feel Something – which is the only full album the band has released to date. They also played a couple of favorites off their 2016 EP Outgrown Things. While their current music repertoire may be small, the band announcing that they will soon have more to give to fans is a big takeaway from the night. The band left the stage briefly before returning with an arsenal of pink balloons – a clear sign that they had saved their best song for last. They closed the evening with fan favorite “Daylily.” Pink balloons bounced playfully throughout the crowd as Miranda serenaded us with some of the most positive lyrics of the record. After an evening full of emotional songs, the most hopeful lyrics in their arsenal proved to be the perfect end to the evening. via https://303magazine.com/2019/04/review-movements-bluebird-feel-something/ Tell us what you love and hate about...Sheer LipstickRave: I like that sheerer lipsticks tend to be creamier, more hydrating, and have a smoother finish on my lips. Semi-rant: I personally prefer my formulas to be more buildable–I don’t need full-on opacity but need closer to medium coverage or else they just run together and look a bit too much like lip balm (and in that case, I’d rather just wear lip balm!). The other downside is some of those formulas can last 2-3 hours and need so much reapplication! — Christine via https://www.temptalia.com/rant-rave-sheer-lipstick-4/ ![]() LovegasmCharlotte Tilbury Lovegasm Glowgasm Face Palette ($75.00 for 0.52 oz.) is a new, limited edition quartet of pressed powders that are primarily designed for cheeks but can also be used on eyes. The palette includes a highlighter, highlighting blush (“Multi-Glow”), bronzer, and blush. The pigmentation ranged from semi-opaque (and buildable) to opaque, while the texture was smooth to the touch, blendable on my skin, and none of them emphasized my skin’s natural texture. They wore between eight and nine hours on me. If you’re someone who likes the more gel-powder hybrid formulas, then this is likely to have more appeal; I think that the powders are, on average, a smidgen firmer than is typical for gel-powder formulas, which there are many at this point! They perform best with moderately dense brushes and a moderate hand, but very feathery or barely-there touches aren’t going to yield much pigment. If you haven’t tried this type of formula, you might mull over why it is good, but the asset is in the lack of powderiness and that smoother, but firmer, texture–they tend to sit particularly well on skin and blended out more easily (in my experience) with more of a “melted” look on skin. ![]()

It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage paired with a soft, slightly drier texture that was firmly-pressed and needed a slightly heavier hand to pick up evenly–this gel-powder formula is often more firmly pressed (but has no powderiness), and this seemed a bit firmer than average. The powder applied well to bare skin, blended out nicely, and didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It wore nicely for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading. Top Dupes

It had very, very fine pearl throughout, and as I buffed and blended the powder on my skin, it had a smoother sheen (without visible shimmer). It’s actually quite a challenge to create a cohesive 24-pan palette! Part of that struggle comes from gaps in the permanent shade range (more colorful mattes are desperately needed, but there are actually holes in the neutral range, too). I’d try and be so dissatisfied with where my idea was going and scrap it entirely. Last time (about a month or so ago), I decided to give it a go and really worked my way through it, and now, they’re running the deal again (I don’t know how long the promo will last), though the current pricing is reflective of some recent price increases that have happened to some products in ColourPop’s line-up, so a 24-pan palette is now $50 (used to be $44). You can also get a 12-pan palette for $30 (price is unchanged) or mix with cheek colors with single eyeshadows (prices vary based on your mix!). Initially, my thinking was to create four, “six-pan” mini-palettes within the larger palette (I’ve shared that below as well) but ultimately started with all of my favorite ColourPop eyeshadows, then whittled those picks down to 24. I started to play around with arrangements to try and make sense out of what I had chosen. The end result was rather satisfying, because it felt like it embodied how I feel about makeup (give me all the color! shimmer! color combos!), included only quality shades (no putting one in that fit the scheme, even if it was so-so in performance), and should encourage creativity (it did so for me when I tried to use the two of the secondary octets that I felt were the “hardest” to use cohesively). ![]() Many readers have enjoyed my makeup look inspiration posts, which showcase “quads” of color. If you’re familiar with those, you’ll know that my philosophy is to specifically exclude brow bone and transition shades as they tend to relate to skin tone. For me, I think about the “core” colors of a look, because it is easier to pair that core quad of colors with your personal go-to shades for your skin tone. I wanted to arrange and create a palette that spoke to this philosophy and how I personally see color combinations. In a way, if you come away from looking at the palette (even in just photos) and can see all of the core quad combos pop out at you, then that’s exactly what I wanted to achieve. Some of the combinations are easier to try than others, and the ones that are more challenging are there on purpose because I love playing with makeup and color combinations. My favorite part about trying out an eyeshadow palette is coming up with different looks from it (if I can) to see how versatile and nuanced the palette is. If you feel like it’s hard to mix and cool and warm tones, one of my favorite tricks is to use a lighter, brighter shimmery shade between then, e.g. a copper eyeshadow on the inner lid, gold on the center of the lid, and navy blue on the outer lid. You can also visualize the colors coming together vertically, horizontally, sextets, octets, or even as duos. If you’ve ever created your own palette (with any brand’s singles), I’d love to see what you put together and/or hear about your choices and how you selected your shades! There was very fine, barely-there pearl that seemed to give it a slight sheen but was still subtle so you wouldn’t look at it and think “wow, that’s shimmery!” The texture was smooth, thinner, and felt less forgiving and emollient compared to the typical Rouge G, but it didn’t drag during application and yielded an even layer of color that sat well on my lips. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that stayed on well for five hours and was non-drying. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$33.00/0.12 oz. - $275.00 Per Ounce The Matte formula is supposed to have a "semi-matte" finish that has "the perfect balance between hydration and vibrant color" and contains "hylauronic acid and blurring powders" to help "smooth and volumize the look of lips." The coverage was semi-opaque to opaque, somewhat buildable, but there was enough slip that it was better to keep it two layers or else I experienced the color clumping up on itself and becoming more uneven in overall application. The texture was velvety and thin, I get that "blurring powder" feel that some of the recent matte formulas have had in them--a little "dry" and more prone to clinging on my lips. They wore between three and six hours but fade evenly and more red-based shades left faint stains behind. I didn't find any of them hydrating, and some of them felt drying to me. They had the typical violet scent but no taste. For me, Rouge G was all about making my lips look better: smoother, plumper, and delivered good wear with a hydrating formula, but the Mattes left me wanting, as they weren't hydrating, didn't smooth out my lip lines for the most part, and felt a bit tight to wear after a few hours. One of the tell-tale signs of a drying formula is during the swatch-a-thon; given that there were only 11 shades to swatch, it should have been easy, but my lips felt a little raw afterward, which is typical of swatching more drying formulas for me.
