I like seeing a good mix of promotional images, live models/applications, swatches, and a good color story or theme (names and the like). I want to see the product performing well and see shades/finishes that aren’t overdone.
If you haven’t spent a lot of time in Colorado’s quieter yet still outdoorsy cousin to the north, make sure you don’t miss out. Wyoming might be the least populated state in the US, but that just means there are more undiscovered and hidden gems. Sure, the Cowboy State attracts Coloradans to Jackson Hole for the phenomenal skiing and scenery and Yellowstone National Park for obvious reasons, but this state also has other landmarks and attractions that are worth the visit. We’ve highlighted our favorite Wyoming wonders that are all within a six and a half-hour drive from Denver. So plan a day trip and visit one, or an adventurous road trip and see them all. You won’t be disappointed. Flaming Gorge ReservoirWhere: Start in Green River, Wyoming and journey south along the Flaming Gorge – Green River Basin Scenic Byway. The Lowdown: As the largest reservoir in Wyoming, the Flaming Gorge Reservoir is a hot pick for number one on our list. Stunning red sandstone cliffs contrast the blue water, making the gorge look like it’s on fire when the sun hits just right. The Green River in the Gorge is also considered the best fly-fishing spot in America. Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area lies in southwestern Wyoming and northeastern Utah, so we recommend you start your visit in Green River, WY and journey south on a scenic byway to appreciate the gorge at its finest. Hell’s Half AcreWhere: 40 miles west of Casper, Wyoming The Lowdown: Off the highway west of the small, charming city of Casper, you’ll find Hell’s Half Acre—which is actually over 300 acres. Given a variety of names over the years that have a lot to do with hell, Hades and Satan, this geologic treasure was once used by Native American tribes to kill cattle after driving herds over the ravine and later used by a film crew as the set for an alien bug planet in the movie Starship Troopers. With caves, deep crevices and unusual rock formations, Hell’s Half Acre is a unique roadside attraction you won’t want to miss. Vedauwoo Climbing AreaWhere: Buford, Wyoming The Lowdown: Buford is hysterically known to be the smallest town in America with a population of 1, but it also has some serious rock climbing hidden off I-80 at Vedauwoo Climbing Area. These unique rock formations are actually comprised of 1.4 billion-year-old granite—some of the oldest rock in Wyoming. Climb the “Voo” if you’re looking for an adventurous day trip out of the city. Wind River ReservationWhere: Central Wyoming. Click here for a directory and map. The Lowdown: As the seventh largest reservation in the United States home to the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes, the Wind River Reservation is over 2.2 million acres—which means you have a lot of ground to cover in central Wyoming. It’s hard to pick and choose specific landmarks to see since all of them are breathtaking, but Wind River includes a wild horse sanctuary, the beautiful red Wind River Canyon, Sacajawea’s gravesite, traditional pow wows and dancing exhibitions and more. It’s definitely a surreal way to spend a weekend. Castle Gardens PetroglyphsWhere: Riverton, Wyoming The Lowdown: Castle Gardens Petroglyph Site outside Riverton is a monumental testament to how strong the wind can get. Sandstone eroded by the wind over time created turrets and towers that resemble a castle, and Native Americans carved petroglyphs on the rock walls in order to leave their mark. Castle Gardens definitely makes for a cool photo-op and is engaging for all ages, so it’s not surprising it’s on our list. Killpecker Sand DunesWhere: North of Rock Springs, Wyoming The Lowdown: Colorado has its own sand dunes too in Great Sand Dunes National Park, but in Wyoming, the Killpecker Sand Dunes actually sing—literally. Known collectively as one of seven “singing” or “booming” sand dunes in the world, the Killpecker Sand Dunes have grains that are rounder, so when movement startles the sand, it slides and produces a squeaking or singing noise that at times can even be booming or roaring. Go listen for yourself, spend time dune boarding and frolicking in the sand, or enjoy nearby geological formations at sunset like Boar’s Tusk. Killpecker is an intrepid lover’s paradise. Sinks Canyon State ParkWhere: 3079 Sinks Canyon Rd., Lander, Wyoming The Lowdown: Sinks Canyon State Park is technically located on the Wind River Reservation, but it’s so cool it deserves its own spot on our list. Sinks Canyon State Park is named for the Middle Fork Popo Agie River that disappears into a cavern made of limestone and reemerges in a pool with lots of rainbow trout a quarter mile from the canyon. Weird? Definitely, and you have to see it for yourself. Hot Springs State ParkWhere: 220 Park St., Thermopolis, Wyoming The Lowdown: Thermopolis is Greek for “hot city,” and it’s a perfect name for this small town that’s home to mineral hot springs and colorful geological formations along the Big Horn River. Spring water flows at a constant temperature of 135 degrees Fahrenheit, but the bathhouse at Hot Springs State Park keeps it a more manageable 104 degrees for a therapeutic soak. This is a great place to visit after a day of driving out of Denver. Devil’s TowerWhere: Near Hulett and Sundance, Wyoming The Lowdown: Close Encounters of the Third Kind movie fans will love paying a visit to this geological monument in northeastern Wyoming. Rising from the earth at a dramatic 1,267 feet, Devil’s Tower is a rock climber’s playground and a photography lover’s dream. Comprised of ancient lava, Devil’s Tower’s formation is highly debated by geologists, and it’s not hard to see why — this massive monument is quite odd looking. Ayres Natural Bridge ParkWhere: 208 Natural Bridge Rd., Douglas, Wyoming The Lowdown: As one of Wyoming’s first tourist attractions ever, Ayres Natural Bridge Park was once considered deadly according to Native Americans who believed an evil spirit lived beneath the bridge rock formation, but today it is a quiet place outside of Douglas, Wyoming where you can picnic and relax by LaPrele Creek. This park isn’t far from Denver and makes for a good stop along the way to other sites on our list. via https://www.temptalia.com/what-makes-a-new-release-standout-for-you/ DJ Low Key is an important fixture in the Denver hip-hop community. The man has solidified his reputation by throwing weekly parties at The Meadowlark. Every Friday year-round he and DJ Lazy Eyez throw The Solution in the basement, and during the summer he hosts Goodness on the patio. Both parties curate tasteful playlists dominated by excellent tracks from across hip-hop and rap. While the song selection usually favors the more enlightened components of the genre, it is by no means a “conscious rap” party. Good is good, and the involved DJs always play what they like — the result is inevitably a dance party and good vibes. The Solution started 12 years ago at Milk Bar, then bounced around before establishing itself as a permanent fixture at The Meadowlark. Goodness has been around for seven summers — each year the Sunday day-party brings out heads with the regularity of church service. The parties are good in their own right, but their deep foundation is a palpable source of the inspiration that can be found at each event. Low Key grew up in Newnan, Georgia. He moved to Colorado in his teens, attending high-school in Manitou Springs then studying business administration at the University of Colorado Boulder. He’s been DJing professionally since he was 19, and after moving to Denver in 2005 his career has evolved from playing top-40 and other genres designed to please crowds, to playing the stuff he would like to hear at a party. Fortunately for everyone, the recipe has worked. Both of his parties have since taken on lives of their own. “People come out for the right reasons, there’s a lot of trust built up,” mused Low Key. While the parties mostly live in Denver, Low Key has thrown Goodness and The Solution events at SXSW, proving the event’s viability across venues and cities. There’s a certain je ne sais quoi to be found at the man’s parties that transcends the music — the hard-sought vibe that makes a celebration great. Low Key has paid his dues to get where he’s at. “I’ve started and failed more parties than I could remember the names of,” he said, discussing the necessary ups and downs integral to success. “I also got pocket dialed a year ago by Anderson .Paak,” he said, ruminating on the nature of the game. This Saturday Low Key is teaming up with Red Bull to bring the first-ever Goodness Block Party to the street outside The Meadowlark. The event is being co-headlined by DJ Jazzy Jeff and a one-time super-group dubbed the Goodness Greatness All-Star Band. National heavyweights Phonte — of Little Brother — and Exile — of Blu and Exile — are performing as part of the group, bringing their years of experience to the already impressive lineup. Former Anderson .Paak collaborators TiRon and Ayomari are bringing the West Coast party rap, with Low Key curating set-breaks. Local favorites Sur Ellz, Kayla Marque, YaSi and CRL CRLL are rounding out the already stacked lineup. Low Key says the attention to detail is going to be a bit above average for a block party of it’s kind — with the combined resources of his group and Red Bull and Two Parts handling the production audiences are surely in for a treat. The festivities are intended to celebrate the Golden Era of a neighborhood whose identity has undergone a radical transformation in the last five years. “The party is set up for everybody, but not just anybody,” said Low Key. The Goodness Block Party will take place on 27th and Larimer Street. The show goes from 4 to 9 p.m. and tickets can be found for $10 here. Mills has built a national reputation over the last several years while providing other internet marketing agencies with training and consulting in the highly specialized field of Local SEO. “I’ve enjoyed working with some very talented people at many of the top digital marketing companies the last few years and made some great friendships along the way. Teaching them how to be successful in local search rankings was very rewarding, but I miss the kind of relationship that comes from working directly with entrepreneurs to help them build their businesses. There’s a special kind of satisfaction that comes from helping someone build their company that is hard to explain.” Before founding Rankings Magic, Doug invested in over two years of extensive testing and development with an elite team of SEO experts working alongside him. Doug and his team developed several advanced strategies that allow them to consistently rank any type of business in the top spots of local search results in the most competitive markets in the country. Mills and his team spent an enormous amount of time focused on understanding what Google’s algorithm wants, and how best to deliver that for local business clients. Developing solutions that would allow local businesses to achieve top rankings without attempting to manipulate the algorithm was the goal that kept everyone motivated. “Our approach was to focus on building trust and relevance, which are the two most important factors in Google deciding where to rank a business in local search results,” says Mills. This approach makes it possible for Rankings Magic to outperform other SEO agencies who specialize in a specific industry but don’t have the deep understanding of how Local SEO works. Members of the Rankings Magic team include some very experienced SEO experts who have developed their skills at some of the premier SEO agencies in the country, including moz.com. Ranking Magic has gotten off to a strong start here in Denver, and already has clients from different business categories ranking at the top of the Maps three-pack. We can deliver better rankings and more phone calls for any type of business that draws their customers primarily from their local market,” according to Doug. “Local search has always been very competitive but has become significantly more complex in the last few years. Google changed everything about the way they determine local search rankings, and there are so many more factors that come into play now. Many of them requiring advanced knowledge that goes beyond the basic playbook most SEO companies try to follow for local SEO,” according to Mills. Rankings Magic will not only be offering internet marketing services directly to business clients, but they provide award-winning website design as well. “We’ve brought in some incredibly talented, and creative people to provide effective websites for our clients,” according to Creative Director James Swearengin. “You have to structure a website in a very specific way and organize the information on the site to make it easy for Google’s spiders to interpret, and you have to do that while still designing to effectively convert website visitors into customers. A lot of website designers are still structuring sites the same way they’ve been doing it for the past 20 years, but if you want to rank at the top of local search results thesis days, you have to be incredibly precise about every single detail. We’ve developed several methods for structuring business websites for maximum results based on the way that Google categorizes local businesses,” says Mills. What sets Rankings Magic apart from other Denver SEO agencies? “We specialize in dominating Maps rankings in local search results. That generates the most phone calls for local business clients like ours.” To learn more about Rankings Magic’s SEO services, you can visit their website here or give them a call at 720-603-5400.SPONSOREDvia https://303magazine.com/2018/08/seo-denver-rankings-magic/ Sephora recently announced updates to their Beauty Insider program, and to celebrate, they’ll be holding a Beauty Insider Appreciation Event where Sephora Beauty Insiders members will save 10% (Beauty Insiders), 15% (VIBs), or 20% (Rouges) on most items (see fine print below). Helpful ResourcesBrowse swatches! Try using our Swatch Gallery to lookup swatches on the fly, whether you want to view swatches of all shades in a particular formula, are trying to narrow down to a particular matte red lipstick, or need to compare two swatches side-by-side. Avoid dupes! Before you buy, check to see if you have dupes in your stash or perhaps have tried similar shades in the past and didn’t end up liking them. You can lookup dupes on The Dupe List by product type or a specific shade, and you can also compare two palettes side-by-side to see how much (or little) overlap there is. BONUS! If you’ve created an account on Temptalia, you can keep track of products you own through your vanity, and then you’ll be able to limit your search results to dupes you own! Also, I thought it might be useful to highlight some of the bestselling formulas at Sephora that I’ve also reviewed and link below for those looking for a deep dive into research prior to purchasing:

It had opaque pigmentation with a luminous sheen–it was far more subtle than I expected compared to past experiences with the brand’s highlighters. If I applied another layer, it did intensify the shine/shimmer, but I could easily see this working for those who prefer a light-to-moderate finish in their highlighters. The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and picked up well with a brush and diffused easily across my cheek bones. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading noticeably. The all-female line-up allowed the girl-power to shine brightly, and Taylor’s position as headliner proved entirely appropriate. The G.O.O.D. Music signee had the trappings of a true star — her skill, charisma and exceptional fashion sense all combined to show just how much she deserved the lead role. Regardless of the relatively low ticket sales — the entire balcony was closed — the show was still a gathering of passionate fans who filled the house with enough energy to make for a great dance party. ![]() YaSi at the 2018 Underground Music Showcase. Photo by Heather Fairchild. Denver’s up-and-coming R&B sensation YaSi opened the show right at the stroke of 8 p.m., playing a 15 minute set of originals perfectly suited for the lineup. Her vocals shone over the dense production, and she confidently made the most of her short time on-stage. Fortunately for fans, she will be performing again this Saturday at The Goodness Block Party. Next up was Miami-born singer and dancer DaniLeigh. Her DJ — a large man in a pink Yeezus tee, matching socks and white Yeezys — hyped up the crowd, yelling over bangers both old and new. His opening set proved the endless durability of Juvenile’s “Back That Ass Up.” The 1998 single still compelled the audience to get down, even with the DJ yelling commands over the top. After the crowd was properly warmed up, DaniLeigh emerged clad in an oversized green zip-up flannel, baggy jeans and obnoxiously fly sunglasses. She was joined by two dancers with equally impressive moves. The three had all the swagger of a ’90s girl group, strutting the stage with finesse. DaniLeigh’s singing skills were impressive, but her career as a dancer — having starred in videos for Daddy Yankee, Nelly Furtado and TimeFlies — nearly eclipsed her vocal performance. Click to view slideshow. After DaniLeigh finished her set the stage was loaded with three dirt-bikes. Taylor’s backup dancers emerged clad in BMX gear, priming the stage for the star’s arrival. Taylor hit the stage in similar attire, amplified by a black, Madonna-style bra. Even prior to losing the heavy gear — Taylor and crew would strip down to lingerie over the course of the set — the sexual energy was palpable. Denver Bronco Von Miller could be seen on the balcony — he and his crew having gained exclusive access — mouth agape as he intently watched the explicit set. The dancers did a routine involving illuminated umbrellas, but the set reached its steamy apex when a female audience member was invited to the stage, strapped to a chair then was given a lap dance by Taylor and her whole crew as the singer crooned. Only a few songs later the artist switched the vibe dramatically singing an extraordinarily heartfelt ode to her daughter as the little tot was passed to the stage. The kid did a short dance, melting the collective heart of everyone in attendance. The juxtaposition of the raunchy and the familial seemed odd at first, but Taylor’s sincere appraisal of the many facets of her life made the performance a certain continuity. Her Kanye-produced K.T.S.E. dominated much of the song selection, but classic tracks including the Pusha T assisted “Maybe” were some of the highlights. Some people were disappointed by Jeremih’s absence but giving Taylor the additional room allowed the singer to shine all the brighter. via https://303magazine.com/2018/08/teyana-taylor-denver/ David Byrne — musician, artist, icon. There’s no questioning that the former Talking Heads frontman excels in his industry, captivatingly merging music with philosophy, artistry and utter fascination. For two nights at Red Rocks — August 27 and 28 — David Byrne brought his vision of American Utopia to life with a full, wireless band and a classy yet enthralling stage set up — just like the performer’s outfits, all clad with entirely gray suits and no shoes. The now 66-year-old musician sang, danced, played guitar and of course, brought the theatrics. Opening with “Here,” he mapped out the parts of a fake brain held in his hand. At another point in the show, a lamp slid seamlessly — magically — across the stage. Oh, and the choreography — simple, interpretive and masterfully planned — helped propel the splendor that was David Byrne at Red Rocks. As expected, the show was one-of-a-kind. It was revolutionary with its marching, drumming, passive political statements and all. But also in a sense that David Byrne showed Denver a vision that has set the bar all-too high for the tours of 2018. Executive chef Austin Cueto — partner and 10-year veteran contributor at Kevin Taylor’s at Ellie Caulkins Opera House and Palate at the Denver Art Museum — is heading culinary operations at Mila. Cueto is excited to introduce a menu that reflects his background in fine dining and his passion for fresh seafood, house-made pasta, and hand-tossed pizzas.
Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group has been a long–time name in Denver’s fine dining community and the surfacing of a new concept always creates high expectations. 303 Magazine got a sneak preview a week before the grand opening to get a heads-up on what to expect from the city’s freshest Mediterranean venue. The SpaceClick to view slideshow.Mila is located on the ground level of Denver Place on 19th and Curtis, adjacent from the Ritz Carlton building in the heart of LoDo. Interior design plays a coastal tune in an attempt to recreate beach vibes inside a landlocked retail building. A polished wood-grain bar top fit for 16 guests is inviting and well lit. Walls are backed with teal tile set in white grouting for a beachy feel. The space is illuminated by a series hanging whitewashed pendant light fixtures that lack chandelier shimmer but carry a similar sense of detailed adornment. Leather bar stools, blue suede booth seating and wicker high backs offer guests a range of options for accommodation in the dining room. The 6,000-square-foot venue includes a polished table top suitable to accommodate a casual get together or a formal, suit-and-tie business meeting. The highlight is the 100–seat patio that is visible from the curbside. Outdoor seating is backed by floor to ceiling windows that frame the bar front from the sidewalk and also provides the restaurant with its only source of natural lighting. The FoodClick to view slideshow.“From the menu to the design, Mila will be a Mediterranean escape in the heart of downtown Denver,” said Cueto. Mila will open with a lunch and dinner menu inspired by coastal Mediterranean cuisin, expanding on the traditional Italian and Greek fundamentals. Menu items range from family–style craft pizzas that start around $14 to sophisticated multi-element composed plates that are expected to range between $15 and $36 per dish. Mila’s menu emphasizes a seafood and puts to use Cueto’s background in fine dining. Cueto has rendered several noteworthy compositions for the opening menu like the ahi tuna crudo that is plated with pine nuts, pickled shallot, herbed oil and a house tapenade. The seared halibut is paired with a poached pear, a puckering port wine reduction, fingerling potatoes and al dente asparagus which is a prime example of plating and attention to detail that turns food to art. Other offerings from the sea include oysters on the half-shell, calamari and shrimp escabeche fixed with Meyer lemon, fresh avocado and Tahini. A Meridio “medium” subsection of the menu is dedicated to the vegetarian dinner. While various proteins make the menu at Mila, Cueto has given equal attention to the vegan and vegetarian compositions. Items like the Burrata plated with apple and red pepper jam and the roasted cauliflower with saffron–raisin compote and pistachio gremolata are executed with intention and take a front–and–center seat with the rest of the menu offerings. The DrinkClick to view slideshow. The bar offers wines by the glass accompanied by eight beers on tap that include local microbrews and foreign imports. Cocktails riff old-school Italian favorites. Expect a mean shaken martini made with local Leopold Brothers Vodka but make the trip for the “Figroni” — a fruity counterpart to the traditional Negroni which incorporates a blend of Malfi Italian Gin, Carpano Antico, Campari and fig. The bar also offers a Denver Place Lemonade that muddles apricot, mint and a dry anise aperitif Ouzo a sort of lemon licorice mojito that is an unusual but in the same moment intriguing. Mila opens September 4, inside of the Denver Place building located at 999 18th St., Denver. The kitchen will serve dinner Monday – Saturday for dinner and lunch with a Happy hour is available from 3 – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 5-6 p.m.Saturday. Mila will be closed on Sundays. It had a transparent base, which was as described, and lots of gold pearl, sparkle, and larger flecks of glitter. It had “coverage” with respect to the shimmer/glitter that adhered and stayed on my cheekbones. The texture was dense and smooth to the touch (almost felt like a firm cream), and despite being quite glittery, it picked up well with my brush and actually blended out (without disappearing). It stayed on well for eight hours with minimal migration over time. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$34.00/0.34 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to "reflect light with a shock of sparkle over translucent colour" with a "cream-powder" base that has "minimal fallout" and can be layered over "blush and eye shadow." It is supposed to wear for "8 hours." They had a dense, but smooth, consistency with lots of fleck-like sparkle and glitter--flatter but very reflective particles that adhered better to the skin and did, in fact, have "minimal fallout" and some travel/migration of sparkles over time but a lot of stayed in place over the eight hours it lasted for. The pigmentation was as described: lots of glitter and a transparent base, so it had "coverage" but in the form of sparkle and glitter. For all the reflective qualities of the finish, it didn't emphasize my skin's texture. They were easy to apply and blend out without losing the "coverage" or initial placement of the product.
