From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, April 27, the Denver Broncos and Food Bank of the Rockies will host a mobile food pantry in Lot C at Empower Field at Mile High. With at least three refrigerated food trucks, the mobile food pantry is expected to serve 2,000 families, making it the largest of its kind in Colorado. Volunteers will attend the pantry and hand over grab-and-go food boxes for families in need. This is not the first time the treasured local NFL team and the Food Bank of the Rockies joined forces to do some civic good. Last month, the Denver Broncos committed to funding 100,000 meals through a donation to this food bank. Together, the organizations hosted a mobile food pantry during Thanksgiving in 2017. Petal Poppin'Fenty Beauty Petal Poppin’ Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush ($20.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium pink with moderate, warm undertones and fine, golden pearl throughout. The effect was more of a luminous finish that didn’t read overtly shimmery or metallic when applied and blended out. Applied with fingertips, it had semi-sheer to medium, buildable coverage, while a moderately-dense, angled brush yielded slightly sheerer, but still buildable, coverage. For true, sheer coverage, I’d recommend using a lighter hand or a stippling brush. The formula itself sheers out when applied, as it spreads well over bare skin (or on top of foundation), so even if it seemed a bit “pigmented” on first tap, it sheered out a fair amount from there. In order to achieve higher coverage, it really has to be built up in layers (which it was designed to do), but the impressive part is that it builds up exceptionally well. The product applied evenly, blended out with ease, and gave my skin a nice glow without feeling wet or tacky to the touch. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably. Formula Overview$20.00/0.1 oz. - $200.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to give a "fresh wash of color" that is "effortless" to blend with a "natural-looking" finish. The coverage is designed to be "sheer, buildable" with a "sweat- and water-resistant formula." The brand recommends to apply with fingertips or their 125 brush (which is a fairly dense, angled brush). The coverage was definitely buildable with a tendency toward semi-sheer coverage, but the intensity depended on application method. The best way to describe was that by the time you applied and blended out one layer, it often looked like that "fresh wash of color" it was marketed as having, but I'd argue they were closer to semi-sheer to medium, buildable coverage than true, sheer coverage. It was very readily built up to more intense, more opaque coverage with a second or third layer. It layered beautifully, too, so achieving higher coverage was easy to do and was still as flattering on the skin as one layer. If you took a fingertip and swirled it around at least once, you'd get higher coverage, but it would diffuse a bit to more semi-sheer to medium coverage depending on the shade. With a few taps of a moderately-dense, angled brush (like they paired with this formula), one could get more semi-sheer to medium coverage in a single layer. A stippling brush was most consistent at yielding a sheer wash of color, whereas fingertip application tended to be more medium coverage. That being said, they had the kind of pigmentation that seems pigmented initially but does have a tendency to sheer out in real application, so finger swatches alone are better as insight into potential opacity but not one layer opacity; the blended out swatch is a better indicator of as-applied to cheeks coverage. I still think they were more pigmented than described, but the formula was very forgiving so they could be used with a lighter hand (like one pat or tap with fingertip/brush) for true, sheer coverage if desired. The formula played well with fingertips as well as brushes, though I preferred fingertips as they're really just such a handy, efficient tool for cream-based formulas like these (and one less brush to wash!). I didn't have any issues applying and diffusing out the edges of the blush over bare skin or over foundation (I paired them with Fenty's Pro Filtr, which is popular but also more matte, so made for a good test base) as it did not lift up base products. The consistency was more in line with a traditional cream blush; it was emollient and felt wet to the touch in the compact, and it remained emollient when it was applied to my skin. It did not turn to powder as soon as it came into contact with my skin, but it did dry down for the most part. I felt like there was very fine, barely-there pearl through most shades (some had obvious shimmer) which gave the illusion of dewiness, because when I touched the final application, it seemed dry to the touch but absolutely had that "natural-looking"--read: skin-like--finish advertised. They wore between eight and nine hours before fading a bit, and they seemed to have a nice, even fade beyond that range. They seemed water-resistant as they didn't bleed when I ran swatches under water, but you could certainly wipe the product away with light rubbing so it wasn't impervious (resistant implies just that, resistant, but not impervious!). It had opaque color coverage that applied smoothly and fluidly across my lips without tugging. The texture was smooth, creamy, and velvety–a little more powdery compared to the original Lip Color formula–and feels a touch denser as a result. There was a smidgen of product that sank into my deeper lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable in person until after a few hours of wear (and it lasted around four hours on me). Formula Overview$55.00/0.1 oz. - $550.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to be "richly pigmented" and have a "luxurious, velvet matte finish." The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to fully opaque with lightweight, velvety textures--creamy enough to glide on nicely but not enough slip to feel slippery or slide around on the lips when worn. The wear time varied from shade to shade with richer shades lasting over six hours. The formula was comfortable to wear and often lightly hydrating. There's a vanilla scent but no discernible taste. ImpassionedTom Ford Beauty Impasssioned Lip Color Matte ($55.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a deepened red with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. It was a more muted red overall, which is what made it standout a little more in a sea of red hues. The lipstick had a smooth, lightweight consistency that was lightly creamy, dense without being firm or stiff, and comfortable to wear. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, which stayed on well for five hours and felt hydrating over time. Scarlet RougeTom Ford Beauty Scarlet Rouge Lip Color Matte ($55.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a bright, medium red with strong, warm undertones and a satin finish. The pigmentation was good, though shy of full opacity in one layer, but it was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. It applied smoothly and evenly across my lips without tugging as it had a lightly creamy consistency that wasn’t too firm but still had some substance to it. The density allowed it to sit well on my lips without emphasizing my lip lines or catching on lip texture. It wore well for five and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating over time. I swear there were barely-there, golden shimmers throughout that gave it a not-quite-matte finish that read almost dewy (even though it dried down) but didn’t look shimmery applied. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy that felt lightweight and more gel-cream like, which ensured it spread easily and evenly across my skin, whether over bare skin or layered on top of foundation. It had medium, buildable coverage applied with fingertips and more semi-sheer to medium, buildable coverage with a moderately-dense, angled brush. For sheer to semi-sheer, buildable coverage, one would need to use a very light touch or a stippling brush. This formula sheers out once applied and blended out, which is as designed, so to get to full coverage, building is necessary but easy to do. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably on me. FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent). Top Dupes
Formula Overview$32.00/0.22 oz. - $145.45 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to be "non-greasy," "sweat-resistant," "easy to blend" cream bronzer (or contour) with "sheer, buildable" coverage that has a "natural-looking" finish. The brand called out two shades specifically as contour shades--Amber and Toffee Tease--though they can certainly be used as applicable to one's skin tone and undertone. The coverage was semi-sheer to medium in one layer and buildable from there, though a lot of the initial opacity depended on the application. Per the brand, the product can be applied with fingertips (they mention "one tap") or with a brush (they created a denser, angled brush for this formula). What I found was that the formula had a tendency to diffuse and spread over the skin in a way that did sheer out the color in practice, so the blended out swatch was more in line with actual results. I think they were, on average, more semi-sheer to medium, buildable coverage than true, sheer coverage but they can definitely be applied lightly or blended out for true, sheer coverage. Fingertips, generally, apply the heaviest coverage across formulas and products, which was true here. When applied with fingertips, a swirl through the pan yielded more medium and semi-opaque coverage, while a pat or two of a fingertip into the product was good for getting the first layer in place (with more sheer to semi-sheer coverage) and building up coverage where desired. For brushes, something like a stippling brush yielded sheer to semi-sheer coverage and a denser, angled brush yielded more semi-sheer to medium coverage. The coverage built up exceptionally well as the product layered without becoming uneven in application or in actual texture. The product applied beautifully over bare skin as well as over foundation (I paired them with Fenty's Pro Filtr, which is popular but also more matte, so made for a good test base) as it did not lift up base products. The consistency was moderately emollient with good glide--it spread easily across my skin, which made it more fluid and gel-like in that way, and it wasn't tacky or so wet that it was hard to blend evenly or get to "stay" in place where I wanted it to stay (thus enabling me to blend out edges with ease). It dried down within a few minutes, but it retained its more skin-like finish despite not feeling wet to the touch. The test of blendability is often with deeper shades like Chocolate and Toffee Tease, which are significantly deeper than my skin tone, so any unevenness is much more noticeable, but they applied beautifully. I could see them working on deeper skin tones as they were likely designed for, but for someone who is looking for a darker contour shade and is lighter, they're easy to work with as well. The formula wore well for eight to nine hours, and it had a continued, gradual fading from there that was a flattering fade (it didn't just slide down and off my face!). I'd agree that it seemed sweat- and water-resistant as it didn't start to migrate, bleed, or turn patchy, though it could certainly be rubbed off with light pressure (fingertip, napkin, etc.), e.g. blot away excess moisture. via https://www.temptalia.com/best-products-of-the-week-vol-239/ Drama ClassFenty Beauty Drama Class Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush ($20.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a lighter purple with subtle, cool undertones and a natural finish that wasn’t overtly shimmery but didn’t read flat or fully matte either. It had a smooth, gel-cream consistency that was lightweight, thin, and spreadable without being overly emollient or too watery. It dried down fairly quickly but still looked skin-like despite not feeling tacky or wet to the touch. The cream blush had sheer, buildable coverage applied with fingertips as well as with a moderately-dense, angled brush, which was as described. It was one of the sheerer blushes in the range, but like the others, it can be built up very well–it layers spectacularly over itself, whether over bare skin or on top of foundation. The sheerer it is worn, the more pinky-lavender it can look. The color stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.
