Stick Foundations
I love how creamy and high-coverage they can be, but they’re often harder to spread out and can feel a little thick. Plus, they seem to contain less product and can get used up faster than a liquid foundation!

Sea BreezeSydney Grace Sea Breeze Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light chartreuse green with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, and it actually stayed that way when applied; there was enough substance to the consistency that it didn’t immediately sheer out to nothingness. It’s incredibly rare to find this light of a shade that can pack so much pigment without ten layers and a sticky primer under it. The consistency was a smidgen powdery, so there was a bit of fallout if I used a larger, fluffier brush. It wore well for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$5.00/0.06 oz. - $83.33 Per Ounce The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren't opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn't so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I've found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me. Browse all of our Sydney Grace Matte Shadow swatches.

Pear TreeSydney Grace Pear Tree Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium-dark green with subtle, warm undertones and warmer, olive green shimmer and faint sparkle. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that felt a little thicker, but it spread easily along my skin without losing its intensity. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before creasing faintly. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$6.00/0.06 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen. Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn't have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading). It had rich pigmentation with a soft, lightly creamy consistency that was dense but not too firmly pressed in the pan. The CommonsSydney Grace The Commons Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a blackened purple with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of plum and copper micro-sparkle. The consistency was drier and on the dusty side, which resulted in some fallout when I worked with it, though some of the sparkle/shimmer seemed to translate onto my lid, rather than just the base color (which was more what I anticipated). The product itself blended out without much effort along the edges and went on evenly. It had opaque pigmentation that wore well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably. Top Dupes

The CultureHaus gala returned to the Denver Art Museum (DAM) this past Saturday for its 21st season, this time to celebrate not only activism and philanthropy but unparalleled fashion as well. The gala — titled “Art of Dior” — included full access to the critically acclaimed exhibition, Dior: From Paris to the World. Attendees turned up in their very best Dior-inspired ensembles, which included everything from designs by current Dior artistic director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, couture by Marchesa, Gucci and Monique Lhuillier, thrifted Ted Baker and vintage Mr. Blackwell. Although the event lasted an evening, we will continue to feel inspired by the flair for style this city has, including some of our favorite looks below. Stick FoundationsI love how creamy and high-coverage they can be, but they’re often harder to spread out and can feel a little thick. Plus, they seem to contain less product and can get used up faster than a liquid foundation! — Christine via https://www.temptalia.com/rant-rave-stick-foundations-2/ Today is a big day for Red Rocks announcements. Comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah and singer/songwriters Shakey Graves and Norah Jones all announced headlining dates at the amphitheater this summer. First and foremost, Trevor Noah is slated to hit Red Rocks for his first time ever on May 19. Dubbed “The Loud and Clear Tour,” the forthcoming jaunt follows a slew of awards and accolades for everything from his Comedy Central Daily Show hosting duties to his Netflix comedy special and his New York Times Bestselling book, Born A Crime. Additionally, in recent years, Noah has become a viral counter of sorts to the Trump Administration, upping the ante on his political and social commentary in the process. Noah’s last appearance in Denver was in 2017 at the Bellco Theatre. Check Out Our Comprehensive List of Every 2019 Red Rocks Show Announced Thus Far. Later in the summer, Norah Jones will be returning to the amphitheater as well as Shakey Graves. Jones will grace Red Rocks on July 16 alongside Mavis Staples, and Shakey Graves will be passing through on August 15 with Dr. Dog and Caroline Rose in tow. July 16, will mark Jones’ second time performing at the venue following last year’s performance in June on the heels of 2016’s Day Breaks, and a couple loose singles throughout the past two years. Shakey Graves, a longtime Denver favorite, will also return following a showing at the amphitheater last year, that time with openers Jose Gonzales and Twin Peaks. Tickets for the upcoming concerts will go on sale Friday, February 1 at 10 a.m. via AXS. via https://303magazine.com/2019/01/trevor-noah-shakey-graves/ Everyone’s favorite booty shaking, empowering and “self-caring” diva, Lizzo is heading back to Denver this summer. Coming around on May 1, Lizzo will once again take on the Ogden Theatre, but this time with her forthcoming new album, Cuz I Love You in tow. For those who’ve been blessed with seeing Lizzo in concert, there’s nothing quite like it. From raising up the audience to be that bitch and having a squad of backup dancers twerking on damn near every surface, her performances are an immersive experience of not giving a damn what anyone thinks, and putting oneself on one’s own pedestal. In fact, last year, the Minneapolis-based singer surprisingly opened for HAIM at Red Rocks alongside Maggie Rogers, and nearly stole the entire show. If that was a mere glimpse of what’s to come with this new album and tour, then Denver’s in for one hell of a treat. Tickets for the upcoming Lizzo concerts will go on sale Friday, February 1 at 10 AM.
via https://303magazine.com/2019/01/lizzo-announces-denver-return/ Rose Nu (88)YSL Rose Nu (88) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium pink with warm undertones and a natural sheen. The lipstick yielded medium color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly and didn’t settle into or emphasize my lip lines, despite being a creamier, more emollient formula. It felt lightweight and was comfortable to apply and to wear as it felt like a balm-lipstick hybrid. It lasted well for four hours and was hydrating over time. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$38.00/0.11 oz. - $345.45 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to be "deeply hydrating" and "melt" onto the lips with a "pop of color" and give long-term hydration. It is described as having "medium coverage" and "irreverent shine." The color coverage was typically medium, as described, though some of the deeper shades were more buildable to semi-opaque coverage. They're a very, very creamy, emollient formula; they slip-slide as they melt against the lips during application, and it feels luxurious to apply but can be easily over-applied. It's just the type of texture that lends itself to over-application without adding more coverage, so I recommend being mindful in order to ensure you'll get plenty of usage out of each tube. Fortunately, once on, they don't feel thick or overly slippery, so it doesn't feel like the lipstick is constantly moving while worn. They have a high-shine, almost glossy, finish that often smoothed out my lip lines without settling into them, and the latter made it more impressive due to the amount of color and slip. The wear time varied from shade to shade but typically landed between three and five hours. Some shades leave a faint stain behind--usually the mid-tone and darker hues. The formula has a sweet, mango scent but no discernible taste. Browse all of our YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick swatches. Ingredients

Plum Tunique (90)YSL Plum Tunique (90) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium-dark plum with subtle, cool undertones and barely-there pearl. It had medium color coverage in a single layer, which was as described, that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging. Which is why last week’s proclamation by Mayor Hancock comes less like a surprise and more as a much-deserved award. Hancock officially named January 29, an official Denver holiday to celebrate local art advisory firm NINE dot ARTS. The firm has spent the better part of a decade shaping and supporting transformative art from the private to the public realm, in Denver and also increasingly in other major cities like Boston, Chicago and Seattle. 2019 also marks NINE dot ARTS’ nine-year anniversary, and so on January 29, the founders want to spend the day giving back to the local art community with an art supply drive. NINE dot ARTS is adept at creating must-see locales in Denver — like The Maven Hotel, the Alley at Dairy Block, The Ramble Hotel and The Crawford Hotel. A space designed with their curatorial expertise serves as more than a restaurant or hotel lobby — it emerges as a destination, an experience and a showcase of incredible artists. In the public art domain, NINE dot ARTS coordinated The Blue Trees in 2017 — an installation by Konstantin Dimopoulos where trees around the city were painted with biodegradable blue paint — and the Happy City transformation in 2018, among others. To date, the firm has grown from the two co-founders, Molly Casey and Martha Weidmann, to a team of 20 with 300 projects under their belts. “Nine years ago, we embarked on our mission to use the power of art to transform the average business environment… we attribute part of our success to the fact that we started right here in Denver, a community that consistently demonstrates a shared commitment to the arts,” Weidmann said in a press release.
That commitment has only grown with the expansion of Denver’s overall population in the last few years. In 2017, according to a study by the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA), employment in the art and culture scene of Denver was at an all-time high and the total economic activity totaled $1.9 billion. People who live in Denver are paying more attention to the arts, and people outside of Denver are starting to come here as an art destination. And NINE dot ARTS wants to set a national, perhaps international, standard for art curation and installations, stemming from their local projects. “While our team has curated art for projects across the country, this new national focus showcases our vision to be the world’s leading art consulting firm, and a commitment to setting industry standards for innovation and creativity,” Weidmann commented. Click to view slideshow. So on Tuesday, January 29, the city of Denver should do two things to show their appreciation for NINE dot ARTS’ efforts. The first is stopping by the firm’s headquarters (a beautiful space that opened last year) and dropping off any unwanted or unneeded art supplies — a list of the most-wanted items can be found here. The second way to pay homage to the company is to appreciate some of the installations and projects the team has been in charge of over the years. You may still see some of the blue paint from The Blue Trees if you walk by the Convention Center. And there are still artistically designed alleyways along 16th Street Mall from the Happy City transformation. To finish the day, find your way to one of Denver’s most art-filled blocks, where NINE dot ARTS landed 31 artists to create 715 pieces of artwork in total. -- From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. — on the city-wide holiday dedicated to it — NINE dot ARTS will accept art supply donations at the headquarters at 3734 Osage Street. via https://303magazine.com/2019/01/nine-dot-arts-denver-holiday/ Despite a relatively dry winter in the Mile High City this season, Denver welcomed to blizzard conditions this morning. As a result, we decided to dig into our history of extreme winter weather. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the biggest snowstorm in Denver occurred between December 1-5 of 1913 when the city was buried in 45 inches of snow — that is more snowfall than in all of 2013 ( 38.4 inches). The Denver Post recounted that day on its centennial celebration in 2013 by sharing the archived front page of December 5, 1913. Headlines read, “‘Tis a Privilege to Live in Colorado, Shout Merry Gloom-Chasers in Storm” and “What the Snow Did, is Doing and Will do!” — both slightly perplexing but not far from modern sentiments. Below you’ll find the full list of the largest snowstorms from 1881 to present, as well as a few other facts and figures also provided by NOAA. Enjoy your snow day, if you can, and stay safe and warm. Biggest Denver SnowstormsBiggest Denver Snowstorms (1881-Present)

Calling all Potter-heads who love their beer, the perfect event has been crafted for you. A Harry Potter Inspired Beer Festival is coming to Denver by popular demand.
On February 9 at 5:30 to 9 p.m. at The Church, you can transport yourself to the magical wizarding world of Harry Potter to drink some potions brewed up by Rock Star Beer Festivals. The venue, a historic church turned nightclub, will take shape into Hogwarts Great Hall, The Leaky Cauldron and Diagon Alley for you to explore throughout the night. You can sip on brews of adult butterbeer, Snape’s Lair of Secret cider Potions and more.
As you sip on mugs of delight, you can also dine on bites from Mac Shackk, dance to beats from DJ Dumbledore and The Slytherin Sisters and get some photos with characters such as Hagrid. However, you must make sure to dress the part, otherwise, everyone will know that you are a muggle.
You can purchase $35 tickets here and currently they are on a waitlist.
